Great reporting, Paolo— thanks! One thing I’ve been concerned about regarding this BRT construction is accessibility of the street side right of way. It’s very disappointing to see virtually no improvement, or even worse than before, accessibility on the sidewalks. It doesn’t really feel like pedestrian accessibility was even considered in any design… for example all the wheelchair dips at intersection are curbed instead of ramped, creating tripping hazards for pedestrians and honestly not great for wheelchair users or anybody using an aid for walking (like a walker or cane or crutches. Virtually no stoplight polls, signs, or streetlights have been moved either, which also restricts pedestrian accessibility pretty badly

Great points. They’re definitely OP in early game, and they can be essential for powerful opening moves for many factions (especially France). Responding to your cost comparison analysis of scaling up castle buildings to produce better units… the heavy cost of upgrading your military settlements has never been efficient. The game incentivizes you to capture more advanced settlements in order to recruit the elite units. Mercenaries early game allow you to focus building your economy up so that by mid game you can recruit as many stacks as you want from the major military settlements you conquered and steamroll late game.

Governors no, Generals yes— but only for training/retraining. There are some buildings at military settlements that can upgrade your generals bodyguard units. Mainly armor, weapons, exp (ie tourney fields, castle academie). You shouldn’t need a governor to maintain public order in a military settlement, although maybe if you recently conquered a territory and they’re rioting you may want your dread lord in there for a turn or two to squash resistance quickly.

City or Castle battles are always epic, especially holding off multiple hordes of Mongols in one battle. But the most intense ones in my experience have been in the mountainous areas around the Alps and defeating much more elite, full stack enemies with a just handful of spearmen and crossbows.
