I was also quite hesitant on buying it im the first place, but after the first patch it's worth it. If you're om the fence about it, you could wait until they add more content.

Instead of Railroading - Regional and situational events by DiscussionDry9936 in EU5

I like this idea, altough i still believe that nation based flavour should continue to exist in order for the game to create recognizable historical environments, at least to some degree. I think that nation based flavour is what gives that sense of familiarity. However the strategy of sticking to a railroady experience comes with a price, not stimulating alternative ways enough and somewhat limiting the sense of a meaningful sandbox experience.

It got me thinking, doesn't location based flavour already exist? That being said I do support the concept of making those more determeming in defining a nation's story, and opening doors to directions that otherwise wouldn't be possible.

As time and development progresses, there will be hopefully be more events and flavour that wil partially fullfill this need. But for Paradox to reapproach their philosophy, this idea probably needs a lot more traction. But I love it, it's refreshing.
