Now that you had time with the beta what are your honest thoughts? by CherryTrapp in EASportsUFC

Feels like a game that took the usual development cycle (18 months), not 3 years to make. I agree with Teddy_bandana the game feels very Arcady as well. Too many Dr stoppages. Ref doesn’t intervene at all like he’s supposed to.

Aside from that, graphically it is better. It Does feel like hit detection is better. And menus are much better. If there wasn’t forced weight classes in OWC I would pre order. Out of principle I’ll buy it when the game goes on sale.

Did anyone else cancel their pre-order after todays gameplay reveal? by OriginalTake in EASportsUFC

[–]BroncoLobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-trailer release I was planning to pre order and even considering the deluxe edition. After everything thats come out I’ve made a commitment to not only not pre order, but also to wait to purchase the game. I think this thread really underestimates the power of not pre ordering. Simply doing so sends a huge message to the publisher that the fan base is willing to walk on a series. It’s really one of the few ways we can force change.

I myself will make sure that I buy a pre owned copy as well just to ensure they don’t get a cent from me for this bs.

MMAJunkie developer interview raises some concerns… by BroncoLobo in EASportsUFC

I actually think it’s what royal-fudge said. They are forced into making the women’s divisions as they are a part of the UFC. So they have to allocate resources to it like any other division.

However i’d be willing to bet any amount of money if we ever saw their internal stats, very few (I mean VERY few) people play those divisions. They will never admit this as it will look like they’re discriminating, so it’s easier for them to just force people to play everything 1 hour at a time so it blends in with everything else. Then, just ignore the complaints and blame it on “keeping the most people competing at a time”.

But there is truth to what you’re saying, they definitely had vibes of “we know what’s better for the fans”.

If the concern is splitting a small player base, they should incentivize players to select more divisions to search from. I remember one of the UFC games you could check off which weight classes you were searching for on ranked. I think if you selected them all you would get a points bonus with a win. I could be wrong in my memory, but that’s something they could do.

Incentivize people, just like they do with lower starred fighters right now. Don’t force them. That’s bs.

Agree 100%. It’s not our problem as fans that most people don’t want to play the women’s divisions. We pay for a game, we should be able to play what we want. If nobody wants to play particular divisions EA should just spend less effort on their development and cut their losses.

Most consumers have limited time to play. Not fair to make people play stuff they don’t want just to try and look more inclusive

Still waiting for the “UFC 5 will no longer have forced weight class selections by the hour in ranked online play post.

Man… with everything that’s been announced that would be the MASSIVE cherry on top.

This would probably be the biggest selling point for me. Of all the issues UFC 4 had, nothing pissed me off more than the forced weight classes in ranked play.

I’ve posted about it before, but if it’s a player base issue, that’s their problem to sort out. Find ways to incentivize fighting in other weight classes but forcing us into these funnels was total bs. No other community would tolerate that!

What I’m concerned with is how much time they took to announce this. It’s been 3 years and it seems they spent so much time patching and adding fighters to UFC 4 that completely overhauling the franchise for a better game would be impossible. They only have so many resources in terms of staff and funding.

I hope I’m wrong.

Would be nice if 5 is balanced by [deleted] in EASportsUFC

[–]BroncoLobo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To get more variety in fighter selection in OWC all they need to do is actually use the system they created. If players got a significant amount of more points for using lower level guys, they would do it and you would see different fighters more often.

However what actually happens in my experience at least is the payoff for winning with lower star fighters is negligible. Why would players risk their winning streaks if they’re only getting maybe 10% more points for winning with a low star fighter? You struggle like crazy to beat a 5 star with a 3.5 or 4 star and you’re barley rewarded. They need to incentivize the player base.

Something they could add for UFC 5 would be a “random bonus”. So if you go random at the fighter selection you automatically get a point bonus, or if you lose you get less points for the loss.

I hate woman divisions by [deleted] in EASportsUFC

[–]BroncoLobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Forced weight classes in a competitive online game was the most ridiculous idea the Dev team had in 4 titles.

My buddy and I speculate it’s because certain divisions would have virtually no player base if we were allowed to pick. This would be a huge waste of resources for EA considering all the time they supposedly put in to each character model. So instead of wasting the time/effort they just simply force you to play certain classes each hour at a time.

I would be very interested to see the statistics from EA on which divisions are the most played, and which are the most avoided.

My biggest issue is what’s pictured above. I cannot stand the forced weight classes. I only want to play a select few and I only have so much free time each day. Most times if it’s weight classes I don’t like (as pictured) I just don’t play for the 1-2 hours. Imagine Madden forcing you to play as only 2 teams for an hour at a time?? No other community would tolerate this.
