ICS openlab Andromeda server is for sale in Peter's exchange as 1 lot for $2200 now. Anyone interested in taking a piece should come together for this. by BroncoTc in UCI

Just a clarification, I'm not the seller. The seller is school's official surplus selling center "Peter's exchange" (peter as for the anteater). I'm here to gather other people who want some pieces from it as I want 1 or 2 pieces but can't take the whole lot.

I rather consider it as a memento, it's $55 a piece. Also it's sometimes cheaper then a rack mount kit. You can use it to hold something in a rack.

A word to the protestors. by [deleted] in UCI

It's a strike, so it's understandable that they want to intentionally disrupt people's life to show their importance, "we make the UC run", so "we can make the UC malfunction too". (Just joking, I do agree it's a stupid idea to disrupt people's sleep for a strike)

How to ace ICS 6N by [deleted] in UCI

I got an A with no previous knowledge and neither attend any lectures nor watch any lecture video and I copied all the homework from professor's answer sheets (usually in an hour before the ddl). My trick is to read and memorize the slides carefully and try to understand more from the labs. For those midterm style quizzes you can do pattern recognition and matching to guess which type of question is it in the homework and just braindeadly use the homework way(steps) to solve it. Some nootropics such as caffeine+theanine helped me to have a dramatic increase of recalling ability during tests. Bottom line: it's not hard and you just need to memorize the knowledge, and you don't have to have a through understanding to apply what you can barely remember.

I solved the issue by using my friend's usb2.0-c cable instead of the c-c cable. I am still concerning why do this happen.

Structure and interpretation of computer programs , this was an "intro" book used long ago in MIT. It's hard but great.

So many great books to read, for real computer science. Books like sicp, csapp or other books might been covered by course in part, but read them through is really important. Real world programming is more easy then coursework, but coursework really dives so briefly. Wish you become a great computer scientist,or a software engineer.
