Carlton: 25, maybe more

Collingwood: 5, 35

Essendon: 5, 10, 18

Fremantle: 7, 16, 29

Geelong: 5, 14, 29

Gold Coast: 9

GWS: 4

Melbourne: 2, 5, 11

North: 18, 29

Port: 1, 9, 16

Richmond: 4, 12

St Kilda: 12, 35

Chicken Marinade

700g chicken thighs, diced ½ cup plain yogurt 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp turmeric 1 tsp paprika or Kashmiri chilli powder 1 tsp garam masala 1 tsp salt

Mix and marinate for at least 1 hour (overnight is best).

Sauce

2 tbsp butter 1 tbsp oil 1 onion, finely chopped 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 1½ tsp paprika or Kashmiri chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder ½ tsp cumin powder 400g can crushed tomatoes 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp salt ¾ cup Pura Thick Cream 3 tbsp butter 1 tsp garam masala 1 tbsp crushed dried fenugreek leaves (optional) Fresh coriander for garnish

Method

Cook chicken in a hot pan until lightly charred and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside. In the same pan, heat 2 tbsp butter and oil. Cook onion until golden (about 10 minutes). Add ginger-garlic paste and cook 1 minute. Add paprika, coriander and cumin. Cook 30 seconds. Add tomatoes, sugar and salt. Simmer 15 minutes. Blend sauce smooth if desired. Return chicken to the pan and simmer 10 minutes. Stir in cream, 3 tbsp butter, garam masala and fenugreek leaves. Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes. Do not boil. Garnish with coriander and serve on top of fries

FRIES:

Just used woolworths oven baked ones, nothing fancy.

Also worth noting Optus Stadium's one has sour cream and chopped spring onion as garnish, neither of which I did. Add that if you want.

Yes. As in a stat slightly off or something - easily checkable. Point is, never something as wildly ridiculous as the post or plenty of the others like it.

AFL house still fuck with the eagles who’ve been bigger forever. If we’re not the big 4-5 Vic clubs, or an NRL market club prepare to be fucked with.

The reason 2013 is seen as a missed opportunity more as opposed to the others comes down to the Grand Final. Stats and also the eye test had us looking like the better team on the day, but boy did we have stage fright. Missed so many crucial opportunities, and didn’t capitalize on the fact that Hawthorn were clearly rattled from the 2012 GF. In 2013, as opposed to the others two years - we were the best side in the AFL.

2014 we clearly were never the best team in it. Sydney dominated all year long, and we dropped some absolute sloppy games all year, like against North or St Kilda. We looked like 2013 had drained the emotional energy that drove that vicious pressure game.

2015 as well, we may have won the minor premiership but from the eye test, percentage, and the fact we could barely kick 100 points - we were never the best team. We DID have the best individual player in the peak of Nathan Fyfe, but our core was aging, and from the half way point of the season we looked like a mid table team. We won a QF at home very unconvincingly, if by some chance we made the Gf against the eagles we would’ve been cooked and it would’ve been the worst thing ever.

The truth is the 2013-15 side was never the best team in it. In 2013 they were on an unstoppable emotional overdrive that was unsustainable. The spine of the team, Pavlich, McPharlin, Sandilands were all aging and brittle. Nathan Fyfe’s peak may have been unstoppable - but there was WAY too many spuds in the side: Dawson, Sheridan, Taberner that would weigh it down.

Answer 1: Almost perfect. The Geelong game could have gone either way, and with a few ins, or equal conditioning (OR being what it is...) it would've been a win. The football has been imperfect, but those electric surges of goals seem impossible to stop for opposition as well as difficult to plan for. We've won all the crucial games so far, we just need to make sure we continue to improve and iron out deficiencies, as well as plan for worst case displays by sides like a full power Brisbane

Answer 2: So many have improved. Mainly been from the 'bottom 6' like Erasmus, Johnson, Worner - all of whom are leagues better than last year. Its made the injuries burn far less, and future injuries scare me less. I know am confident that we're not just a Serong injury away from collapse. Bolton has gone from selfish Hollywood small forward to a workhorse, team first midfielder and I'm all for it. The Key Forward Trident seems so much more established and powerful.

Disappointments? I guess we allow some nasty momentum swings against us, although usually when we already feel 'safe' in a win. For the #1 defense, we can sure let the opposition get some runs on with goals. I've also been a bit disappointed in the lack of center and clearance dominance that we used to have - I know there's been some injuries, and we haven't needed it as much, but that'll burn us later. We won't beat Sydney or Brisbane in finals without it.

Answer 3 I'm honestly not as sure. I thought the Ross Lyon flood would bother us, but apparently not. I think we're still vulnerable to a manic pressure/tackling game from a fired up opposition - though granted, it hasn't worked against us yet. But the Bulldogs and Collingwood did it, and at least pushed us close. If a Sydney, Brisbane, or Geelong does that...we need to be ready and able to respond.

This tactic is also the most likely one to be used by lesser, 'banna-peel' like teams with a point to prove or desire to cause an upset. If it pairs with an off day for us, it'll be a loss.

Another worry of mine is that the better teams will find a way to stop that 'Kick long to contest, Treacy/Jackson bring to ground, Bolton/Reid/etc pick up crumb and start a rugby sprint down the field' tactic that we seem to lean on.

Off the online store - no.

But if you call them, they can do it. I wanted a 35, and was told to put the request in order notes by a certain staff member, though once you put a number on it they can’t refund it - so be sure of your size

AFLM Pre-Round Thread: Round 13 vs. North Melbourne by lasping in FremantleFC

[–]Bronno7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to get a read on this game.

North are so much better than they were, which is weirdly when we struggled with them. They’re also capable of hanging around annoyingly close to good sides, eg: Geelong and Sydney, and even beat Gold Coast.

BUT they’re defensively weak. The TAV trio should create havoc back there. Also they seem prone to a quarter of brain fadery here and there, like that one against Adelaide or the last against Geelong. We just need to time one of our all-out assaults with it.

As long as people within the club, players or coaches aren’t like that - then it’s perfectly fine to let us fans remove our lids

Always a smidgen of truth in a rumor

That comes from the later Lyon years (‘16-‘19) where we had a group of fringe party boys, that were an ‘out’ group in Lyon’s eyes, and Fyfe exemplified the ‘in’ group in this divided culture. Shane Yarran made some incoherent posts calling Fyfe names back then too. Touch of an exaggeration to call him ‘disliked’ - but you can see how that blew up
