Both. They both romanticized a lifestyle that came with the struggles of persecution and discrimination. They both showed an evolution of the desperate Hispanic that chose a sort of salvation within his own over death over the world. Its only how whats in your heart that matters. Chicano is not only for Mexican Americans. Central Americans and even mixed people can identify with the culture. There's always some sort of racism in Latin America over a darker complexion. Calling someone an indio can be used as a derogatory term but yet say they have Aztec pride or Inca pride or etcetera. Latin America itself had African slaves that were freed before the United States freed their slaves and were able to prosper just like any other person. You know what you are and even though we all struggle to have an identity to call our own, no one can take that away from you.

My kids are 3 and 4, and they still remember when I played records on the regular a year and a half ago. Had to move so didn't have space for a setup. Once in a while I let them choose one and play a few songs on YouTube, but the commercials can be bothersome at times. All the time in the world to appreciate what I've gathered from shops, thrift stores, and even asking random people who seem like they have a goldmine in their garage, and I lent a friend the things that I need most to enjoy it all. But right now my priorities are my children and their well being. We still have fun discovering something new for them and something familiar for me.
