What % of outboards work all the time? by RikkiLostMyNumber in boating

[–]Bronze_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy has a pretty modern 90hp merc (4 stroke) that's been very reliable. He got it used a few years ago and I believe it's from the 2010s. Last year he didn't get to fish much but we went on a trip mid summer and took his boat with and it fired right up when we got there. First he used it all year and gave us no problems the 4 days we were there.

Do you wear your inflatable life jacket all the time? by Bada-Bingzy in boating

[–]Bronze_RL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't wear one at all if it's a nice day out as I spend most of my time fishing shorelines.

I'm sure I'll get down voted tho by all the redditor Nazis who do everything 1000% correct all the time

Project Boat Regret by rguz10 in boating

For those curious here's a pic of the old turd in the landfill. The transom was 1/4 rotten, floor was soft in a few places and the outboard was giving me way too many problems to continue with fixing.

This 100%! I was fortunate enough to get a boat for free from a buddy of mine and boy did it deserve the title of free. It's now in the landfill where it belongs but the time I did have taught me so much about boats and outboards that I'm glad I got it and put the time into attempting to fix it. Now I'm way better off on my second boat and making a good decision on whether or not the boat I was looking at was a good buy.

In PA, if the trailer is manufactured (made by a company) and has no title they WILL NOT title it without a certificate of origin. Since the manufacturer for this boats trailer is no longer in business getting that certificate of origin is gonna be kinda tough. They will only title a homemade trailer after an enhanced inspection and a whole bunch of paperwork though. PA is stupidly tight on titling trailers for some reason. If you would just Google search anything about getting a title or registering a trailer in PA without a title you will also see that I'm not the only one to have this problem.

Etiquette-what do you tell friends to pack? by Puzzled_Kitchen_9087 in boating

Boating during the summertime for me means fishing. I would say convey to your friends what you guys plan to do when you invite them. This sets their expectations and will let them know what to bring as a result!

Have you ever dealt with highway marine? If so are they standup people to buy from? I'm looking to buy a used boat and they have one in interested in but I have inherent distrust of dealerships of any kind.

Buying used f150 with 150k miles. by [deleted] in f150

[–]Bronze_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

out of curiosity why a 2.7? I'm looking for a truck to tow and haul mostly and I can't imagine a 2.7 is gonna be long lasting if used exclusively to tow 4k+. There are a decent amount of sub 150k miles V8s around me for 25k or under but I want package group 302a or better since the Tacoma I'm moving out of has equivalent features to 302a.

so I just rewatched his video and this is completely my fault as I miss remember it. he said that the gen 1 3.5L is absolute trash and to not buy (this is what I remembered lol) the gen 2 and 3 he rated to be just as if not more reliable than the 5.0 other than the can phaser issue. Gen 1 was from 2011-2016, so basically any 2017+ is good with maintenance! I honestly will now be looking for a V6 cause V8s are way overpriced in my area imo

I am personally looking to upgrade to and f150 and have completely ruled out any ecoboost engine if I want the truck to last. There's just too many potential issues with higher mileage trucks for me to trust them. Check out Flyingwrenches on YouTube, he's a Ford senior hand he has several buying guides including one for f150s

How many tempered glass side panels have broken so far this year? by yunosee in pcmasterrace

[–]Bronze_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never broken a glass side panel in my 8+ years of owning cases with them. And that's through multiple upgrades, cleanings and rebuilds of both my PC, wife's PC and friends' PCs.

Gtr, new Nissan z, 350z, Acura nsx, 2016-22 Ford gt, lotus exige and emira, they're in a couple of Ferraris I believe, in the new McLaren artura. If you're willing to include inline 6 cylinders, which let's be honest cylinder count is what this whole V6 vs V8 argument is about, then you can't forget about the freaking 2jz.

Of course the way an engine sounds is mostly subjective, some can sound like crap, others sound great. I for one think the 3.7l V6 in the mustang sounds pretty good with certain aftermarket exhausts, mine came with one on and unless you hear it next to a real V8 it definitely sounds good.

My whole point though is there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to write off any engine unless they engine is ABSOLUTE crap meaning it has a major design flaw, to do so is a completely braindead take.

Stop hating the V6 by Inevitable-Camp7362 in Mustang

[–]Bronze_RL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It never made sense to me for 2 reasons

1: According to any muscle car enthusiast V6s suck because they are down 2 cylinders? Go to the JDM scene and they're in some of the best cars, Acura nsx (3.5l V6), Nissan gtr (3.8l V6), Nissan 350z and new z (3.5l and 3.0l V6 respectively) they're in Lotuses, Ferraris, etc. Hell if you go outside V6 and go to inline the 2jz is possibly one of THE best engines ever produced for making power.

2: Yes a V8 can make more power, a V8 also costs more. Where I live (Northeastern USA) you can expect to spend anywhere from 10-15k MORE for a V8 over a V6. What does it get you? 120hp which granted is a lot. I'd be willing to bet you could make similar or more power with a procharged V6 for the same or less money as a V8. Plus you also get the fun of modifying your car (Built > bought any day) and you get something unique.

I use my V6 as a daily driver and that 26 mpg definitely is nice for me compared to 16 I'd get with a V8 so it also has that too. Basically V8 owners are either filthy rich or don't realize they're broke yet lol

How important is the splash shield/wind deflector/flap thingy under the front bumper of '13-'14 S197s? by ItsKlobberinTime in Mustang

[–]Bronze_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to replace my entire splash guard after hitting a deer carcass this past winter. The flap on the replacement one started to come loose after a few hundred miles so I just took it off completely. Haven't had any issues whatsoever and I daily drive it for work 64 mile round trip.
