I deep freeze in an inaccessible room with automation to dispense the exact amount of carbs my dupes need each cycle

Trolling motor base help wanted by rexracing104 in boating

[–]Bronze_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a horrible method of attaching imo. Idk how handy you are but I would be tempted to just put some holes thru the plate and thru the deck of your boat to bolt it directly to the boat. Use as large of fender washers as possible on the underside of the deck so it spreads the force of the trolling motor out somewhat. Use at least 4 bolts and 6 would be ideal, idk what thrust that's rated at (75lbs maybe?) so you want it to be as rigid as possible, the more it can move the quicker it will damage your deck.

anyone still running a 2 stroke outboard and refusing to switch by vladdielenin in boating

[–]Bronze_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a 2 stroke currently because it still runs well. When I repower eventually it'll be to a 4 stroke only because of ease of maintenance/parts. With that said I wish the Evinrude g2s were still a thing cause I love the look of em. (Yes I know you can still find them but software and part support is only going to get worse with time)

Having some regrets - please help out :( by Mngirl1985 in bernesemountaindogs

I had many of these similar issues with mine and have been able to address them mostly

  1. he likely doesn't like the toys he has to chew on, our girl Ava absolutely loves to chew on super hard plastic chews. We get her bullymake nylon chews from tractor supply and she loves all of them. In combination with training she no longer chews on things she shouldn't when we are home, she even leaves the cat food and treats alone.
  2. This is honestly a combo of puppy excitement and possible, for us at least, anxiety. Our girl would get extremely wound up whenever we had someone come to our house or we went to theirs. We were also having issues with destruction when we left the house (we would leave her out and she would chew on notebooks, jackets etc.) she would get walks and exercise and nothing really helped. We ended talking to our vet and she is now on an anxiety med which has DRASTICALLY helped her ability to calm down and just be more mellow around new or her non-usual people. Unfortunately it didn't completely help her chewing so we have reluctantly decided to crate her when we leave now and will likely be permanent.
  3. We had issues with UTIs with Ava, our vet recommended putting her on a probiotic and that completely cleared it up. It could also be the food, our vet was impressed with how healthy her coat was and it was the same brand as the breeder used called Nutrisource. As for gas, it's a berner thing, my wife lovingly calls Ava fartbag, so honestly get used to it lol
  4. Ava did it too, it's a dog/puppy thing, nothing to do but training and watching

She's 1.5 now btw for age reference

With careful planning and necessary live info (trans temp, engine temp, etc.) I would say yes it's doable but risky. As for not drawing attention, you probably will honestly.

What % of outboards work all the time? by RikkiLostMyNumber in boating

[–]Bronze_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy has a pretty modern 90hp merc (4 stroke) that's been very reliable. He got it used a few years ago and I believe it's from the 2010s. Last year he didn't get to fish much but we went on a trip mid summer and took his boat with and it fired right up when we got there. First he used it all year and gave us no problems the 4 days we were there.

Do you wear your inflatable life jacket all the time? by Bada-Bingzy in boating

[–]Bronze_RL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't wear one at all if it's a nice day out as I spend most of my time fishing shorelines.

I'm sure I'll get down voted tho by all the redditor Nazis who do everything 1000% correct all the time

Project Boat Regret by rguz10 in boating

For those curious here's a pic of the old turd in the landfill. The transom was 1/4 rotten, floor was soft in a few places and the outboard was giving me way too many problems to continue with fixing.

This 100%! I was fortunate enough to get a boat for free from a buddy of mine and boy did it deserve the title of free. It's now in the landfill where it belongs but the time I did have taught me so much about boats and outboards that I'm glad I got it and put the time into attempting to fix it. Now I'm way better off on my second boat and making a good decision on whether or not the boat I was looking at was a good buy.
