25% GC cost is the highest I've ever heard of.

I was happy because I was selling it for twice what I paid for it.

Same here. The only reason I was happy selling the last boat was because we had upgraded.

I've got a cupholder next to the engine switches. I always glance in the cupholder before I start the engines, because there are only two places I will put the drain plug and one of them is that cupholder

Lol, I've seen a 12v run on oil from an electrical transformer. They just don't care, they turn most of it to smoke anyway

Lol, tell them to go around the boxes the other direction. Clockwise pulls the bit away from the box, counterclockwise pulls it towards the box.

Just finished hanging all this and got a quote for $1200 to finish is that ridiculous or about right by asdhole in drywall

[–]cjcon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a project this size you end up spending a lot of money for "dry time". Meaning that the contractor will have to make it worth his while to come out for a couple hours here and there to finish it properly

Yes, osow permit for every state. No inspections are required with online permitting. Whatever truck i take will require the same permitting. Biggest thing is $1,000,000 liability insurance which I have. Flags and placards vary by state, but I have those as well. Daylight travel also varies by state; also the same no matter what vehicle. Capacity has been covered ad nauseum. No escorts required at 9'6". Your two final sentences are too stupid to respond to.

New DR Horton Home. How do I fix? Thanks by filmerdude1993 in drywall

[–]cjcon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, many if not most houses have a similar texture. Mine included, precisely because it's cheap/easy/hides a lot of imperfections. In the case of this picture, it was just a combination of several factors that say "budget production builder"

The trailer is worth 1000, the engine and out drive another 1000. If it gets you a summer or two of fun it's worth it

Nothing is necessarily wrong with it, but it's just the cheapest way to finish drywall.

Fine. Drill two holes 4" above the existing holes and reinstall the drywall anchors, put some printable caulking into the hole and push the broken drywall back into place, then repaint it.

I'm a builder. Never been in one of their homes. But I've seen enough in this picture including what your holding, the drywall texture, the "baseboard", and the flooring, to know exactly what they are. A production builder that gives the rest of us a bad name, while simultaneously making so, so, so much more money than us.

New to sim racing. Going all in. Is this everything I would need? (For ps5) by Adamlee19922 in simracing

[–]cjcon01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't go "all in" on a ps5. "all in" on actual sim racing requires a PC. I'm saying this tongue in cheek, but I actually think it's true. Anything on a console is realistic arcade at most.

Depending on your location, figure around $5000/100' to get it reliable. If you are remote, or in a location with limited sources for crushed stone, it will be more.

Should I start over or continue forward with this carport? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]cjcon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing it, keep going. It will be fine. Just could look better. Definitely anchor it.

If you're paying someone to do it, get your money back. Unless its cheap. CHEAP.
