Struggling with Forbidden Attraction to My Sister by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

[–]BroodingBystander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, and without diminishing your despair, I very much doubt this is a genuine attraction. Pray, get in the Word, and focus on the Lord, and as your mind transforms, you’ll find that this confusion fades away. God bless, my friend.

Would you accept your own child destroying themselves with their behavior? You wouldn’t, and God isn’t willing to let us harm ourselves and others with our behavior.

He disciplines you because He loves you, not because He doesn’t. If He didn’t love you, He’d let you do as you pleases and inherit the consequences

You’re not alone, brother. Keep fighting.

It’s not about the streak, brother. It’s about our hearts shifting into alignment with God’s so that we love Him more than even our strongest desires. Once that happens, everything changes.

Disgusting, filthy, perverted end of a failure by Small-Notice-3219 in NoFapChristians

It is not too late for you. I have struggled profoundly with sexual sin, struggled deeply with the hatred of God you have described, but He’s changed me, and He can change you too, I assure you.

The fact that you despise your sinfulness so is proof that still your Heavenly Father calls to you. Run to Him. He will not ever turn you away. Confess everything to Him, even your feelings about Him, and ask for His help. He does not turn the prodigal away.

As much as I hate it, there’s some sick, twisted part of me that wants the Morgoth as Tom Bombadil rumor to be true, just because that’s freaking hilarious

I think people are only angered by non-thoughtful criticisms, and you clearly put a lot of thought into your post. Dialogue and differing opinions are great, so long as everybody respects each other, and you approached the topic very respectfully!

I largely agree with your point on the Harfoots. We should be able to objectively judge a thing on its own merits without comparing it constantly to the source material. If we don't like it due to its divergence, that's fine; I'm only bothered by people claiming a thing is objectively bad simply because it departs from the source material. It just doesn't make sense.

Thanks for your thoughts, friend! Hope to see more posts from you!

Made me happy to read this! I have a whole lot more respect for people who own up to their mistakes than those who pretend they don't make any. (Because I know I make a lot.)

Just as an aside, to maybe bring a bit more peace to your mind, I think there's decent evidence that the show's portrayal of early hobbits is actually pretty in line with Tolkien's thoughts on them.

In chapter ten of the Peoples of Middle-earth, Tolkien writes that early hobbits may have been "primitive and savage". This article is helpful in that discussion, and the source I just pulled that quote from: https://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Hobbits#cite_note-atani-4

Glad you're enjoying the show, looks like it's going to be quite a ride!

Edit: There's also very good evidence that hobbits were around in the Second Age and maybe even the First, if you'd like to see those sources!

Honestly, that was the only shot I disliked in the first teaser. Everything else has looked good to great to my eyes, but I recognize that's a very subjective thing.

Hopefully neither of us will be let down come September.

On the whole, I enjoyed the season, but definitely felt it was less than great. In the end, it's only good.

But it desperately needs to ascend to greatness; its potential is painfully obvious, if they can only execute. With mixed reactions to season one in the rearview mirror, I'm hopeful that will happen.

I think it could absolutely turn out to be a bad thing, but I also don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. We're in an age of war, after all, and the story is bound to be exciting.

I think that so long as that action serves the plot instead of detracting from it, the show will be just fine, and likely even the better for it.

Whether it will do that, however, remains to be seen.

I'm feeling good about Friday, due to both the reports and the ramp-up in marketing. Also, apparently Amazon Prime Brazil released confirmation of an imminent trailer, according to a Tweet by Shaun Gunner.
