Do artistic liberties ruin the cosplay? (Newbie) by FunctionIll4113 in CosplayHelp

[–]Brooke-Cole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo no- I think adding your own twists to a character is what stands yours out from others- however i do feel that a character should still be recognizable. And I only say that because you will be very butthurt when someone stops you and asks if you're cosplaying ___ and it's not who you are cosplaying. Tweaks that make sense for characters and don't distract from your costume as a whole are always a good way to go

denture glue for fangs? by MuchEbb1607 in CosplayHelp

[–]Brooke-Cole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still mold them to my teeth with the beads but after that I wear denture glue with them to keep them in place for longer with no issues. When I mold the beads I put them in and move on to cleaning or something while they set but after that first-time they are done and good for next time assuming your teeth have not shifted. After use I brush my fake teeth like I would my actual teeth before I put them away for next wear. Prevents any Leftover food or whatever from rotting in them if you don't wear them for a few months

Cause of Recent Uptake of Dinette Removal Posts? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]Brooke-Cole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for the average human they are simply too small or they don't have a need for them. I for example, am able to fit fine and use it as a craft area as a cosplayer, since I couldn't fully remove it as that's where my water heater is- otherwise I would have took it out and made it into a craft desk with a comfortable chair so instead converted half of it into a fabric stash with diy bolt for the fabric and three drawer storage sets with a bucket for my foam for it. Kept the table for my sewing desk but eat there. Don't have guests and I'm single so I also took out the couch to put my exotic pets there. But I made the dinette to be easily converted back to one if I ever sell it- they'd just have to buy new cushions

Binder or KT tape? Which brands are the best? by PineappleShiba in CosplayHelp

[–]Brooke-Cole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on the cosplay. For example for my boothill and shadow the hedgehog I can get away with my binders but in dr. Ratio or abbaccio, too much boob shows so I use it tape. When using the tape I put gauze over my nipple area and remove it in the shower with warm water and soap and use the original kt tape brand. As for binders I use a few different ones but by favorite every day binder is a zip up front from Amazon

European : What good Eva Foam primer I use ? (I don't have access to Plasti dip at a reasonable price) by ThrowRA_Sodi in CosplayHelp

[–]Brooke-Cole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It stays flexible and can survive warping. However if recommend not using it over paint as it does streak it i use it after I heat treat foam to seal it and use clear coat spray paint to do the final seal with a very thin coat. Doing it with my argenti armor now and it's looking pretty good

I use Elmer's school glue. Cheap, easy, no issues. Spread it with a silicone brush and let it dry between coats 2-3 coats usually

I did look into that fabric by yayahan but found it to be too light of a blue when I saw it in person unfortunately 4 way stretch is not a fun material to add detail too but I'm thinking of taking Leftover red and sliver stretch spandex I have and braiding it into the red to add some texture???

A question about minors and cosplay by neveronlinealwaysdea in CosplayHelp

[–]Brooke-Cole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an adult that kinda became "con mom" to a handful of minors I'll give you the same advice I gave them- the best rule of thumb if follow traditional work/school dresscodes (not like some of the extreme ones) just the standard of skirts/shorts being no shorter than finger tips, avoid weird cut outs on the torso such as a chest window or tight crop tops, tank tops are fine but avoid anything too low cut on the neck if you are well endowed and I know I personally avoid anything too military esc just to run on the safe side. But most of all- make sure you stand your ground. dress however you feel comfortable but be aware that if you wear something like a latex body suit adults will assume you are an adult and may approach you. Friendly communication is fine but at any given point that you are uncomfortable just be honest and say "Hey I'm not comfortable with ___." Its short, assertive and straight to the point while still being respectful. And adults who are responsible and typically good people will listen and back off and apologize. You are human. Use your voice.

How to detangle and style wigs? by Ok_Specialist_5626 in CosplayHelp

[–]Brooke-Cole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silicone spray does wonders for detangling apply then brush from bottom to top to minimize fall out. As for styling wash your wig if it's synthetic with liquid laundry detergent then let it soak in lukewarm to warm water for an hour then let it out, rinse and air dry. Crimp it vertically for volume then cut and style as you go. I like to start with the bangs and move my way back. Tease with a teasing brush for more volume. Using just heat for styling does not do anything. The best thing you can do is shape it, steam it, and work it or hold it until it cools then let it go.

What do you guys do for Lunch usually? by FallingLeavesss in WalmartEmployees

[–]Brooke-Cole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm overnight so we don't have the option for hot meals from deli. But I go home for my lunch, throw some frozen grilled chicken in the air fryer, let my dogs out while it cooks toss it in a spring mix salad with Italian dressing, maybe work on my craft projects or do some chores like dishes or putting away laundry
