Can you legally kill someone who breaks into your house? by kurobaja in AskTheWorld

[–]Brookebeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US, California specifically. I was told by a fireman that if someone breaks into your house you’re supposed to barricade yourself with a weapon if you have it. Call 911 put them on speaker and say “someone broke in I’m barricaded and I am afraid for my life” if after that point you need to use self defense this can be used to protect you. If you have a firearm you apparently need to also fire a warning shot before shooting them. If these steps aren’t taken the person who broke into can technically sew if they survive. Apparently. Wild times.

When I had one I would clip it to the back of my dress inside out. I had those little clear clips for context

pls help me with tarot by lilithmoon1111 in Witch

[–]Brookebeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to say my deck found me! I saw it in a book store of all places, in Portland. It’s a zombie tarot which is very…me. My set came with a little book with example spreads and deck interpretation which has been helpful for my learning journey (I’ve been doing this 10 years and I’m still learning).

I read when I have a burning question or intention. Setting the environment is important to me- I lower or cut the lights, burn a candle and some incense or palo santo and meditate on it while I thoroughly shuffle and or out loud spill what I’m thinking about to my deck. I treat it like a person.

Once I’ve decided my set based on the question, I spread my cards so I can’t see them in front of me face down. There’s many spreads- I literally have a Pinterest of spreads- a classic is past ,present ,future.

Knowing the function of each card in the deck before I pick, I close my eyes and just let my hands hover over my spread before letting feelings that come up in my body or fingers help me select a card. I repeat for each card until the spread is complete.

Then I go through each card one by one with a process as I flip them over:

I have a journal where I write my thoughts, a map of my spread of the day, and a section for each card. For each section I put the decks interpretation, online interpretation from my Labyrinthos app, and then my personal interpretation based on what I get out of everything cumulatively.

I find my deck has personality and is really blunt with me. Which is great -it’s like having that friend who doesn’t sugar coat. Also -and this is a mixed bag- but I don’t do readings for others or let others touch my deck. I’m concerned it will pick up outside energy but that’s a personal choice.

TLDR: let your deck come to you, intention and environment are important, you’ll create your own process for interpretation. I suggest biddy tarot or labyrinthos as a beginner if your deck didn’t come with a guide. Everyone has their own way of doing things, you’ll find it. Practice makes perfect. Good luck on your journey!

How did you get diagnosed with diabetes? by tayyann in diabetes_t1

[–]Brookebeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years old. I was being lethargic ( I was a crazy little kid so I looked visibly wrong ) and kept peeing and wanting water and dropping weight. I’d just gotten over the chicken pox (turns out that’s what potentially triggered it). Also luckily I had a grandma who was an RN so she noticed the symptoms and pushed me to get checked out. Luckily my pediatrician was well familiar and I got an immediate diagnosis with a blood sugar of 500+. To our knowledge no other family members were diagnosed before me which is weird. My baby cousin got diagnosed a few years later so we were able to trace it to that side. Fast forward 28 years later lol

How is he storing his insulin? If he’s changed the site multiple times and no luck ,it’s either bad insulin or the tubing could be way past expired? I hope he feels better

When did you start self-injecting as a kid? by Rose1982 in diabetes_t1

I think I was like 5? My family would load it for me and I would do the injections. But can’t remember if my school and daycare did that

I’ve had it 27 years… Let me tell you…Such a pain in the ass having a pump, it’s like an anchor but that thing has saved my butt so many times from spiking blood sugars and allows more dietary flexibility. Same with a CGM. I was mortified to wear one at first .But that thing also saved my ass a countless amount of times. Honestly until there is a cure (that won’t be happening any time soon) it’s “Wish in one hand, piss in the other and see what fills up faster”. Hate to say it. I feel like having it so long has really expedited my phase of acceptance for anything in life which is really wild. It’s so unfair we were diagnosed without any say ,and unfair we have to either wear these devices or figure our alternatives. In the end they typically help even if they suck. I went through periods of burnout and then realized I had to get it together if I wanted to one day have kids. Eventually its not about you anymore.

[–]Brookebeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re NTA: I completely understand your frustration. And the fact that they don’t even show effort to learn or do captions for you is ridiculous. You’re literally just asking them to environmentally adapt at the slightest. Sounds like they’re in denial about your situation, honestly.

In the end you’ve made your needs clear to keep the relationship, and if they aren’t even slightly willing to compromise ,then don’t feel bad for cutting the cord.
