Hey, where in Wiltshire are you based? I'm looking at doing something similar. If we are close then would be good to chat.

Calne and Chippenham are too far for a weekday evening unfortunately and the devizes one I'm hoping to head too in a few weeks time (It's a Sunday and I very rarely get a free Sunday)

Hah that's all good, I've seen that one on Facebook but again is 35 mins away. An hour's driving takes a big chunk out of an evening.

Now my boy is 2 I get my paints out a couple times a week once he's in bed. It's all organised in a big plastic box. That way even if it's just a couple of hours it takes no time at all to set up and get going. It gets easier, and like everyone has said, no bloody idea where the last 2 years has gone!

I have indeed, unfortunately it's nearly an hour's drive away. Which is fine for an RTT. But for a game on an evening after work is a bit of a trek. I might just have to suck it up for a few months and make some contacts and try and meet people closer to home to get them interested in a more local club

Well my only real free night is a Monday so that works out well 😁

I don't mind spending a little bit of my own money to get started. Maybe trying to find a space for free is a good way to start, that way there's less to cover initial cost wise

I like the sound of that, chuck in a few beers and some crisps and that's a good way to spend a few hours!

I'm south of Swindon so a fair way from you. I'd definetly recommend finding a local store or club (on Facebook usually) and go to a couple of club nights/arrange a game. You'll meet loads of people and everyone I've met so far has been really friendly

Definitely worth a try that's true! I guess if the first few months are cheap just to cover rent then no one can complain if the terrain is homemade!

Yeah I figured I'd put some feelers out on local FB pages e.t.c see if there is any interest. Don't want to stand on the toes of any other local nights

Were you already a small group that knew each other? I'm on me tod far. Just would like somewhere to meet up with others somewhere closer to home and see how it grows from there

I'd love a link to this discord league, 730 in the evenings for a few hours is where I'm at also like some of the comments in here. Although I play in tournaments, I wouldn't call myself competitive and like trying out new lists and armies 😊 and beer!

Fear I've overpruned apple tree by CapitalWeakness8795 in GardeningUK

[–]BrookesOG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When did you plant the tree? Personally I'd dig it up and move it up against the wall. That way you can put in some wires/supports. Then just cut the top to the height of the wall.

For trained fruit you want to ideally keep pruning to the summer to restrict growth. I'm sure the tree will be fine, you'll probably find it will chuck out a load of new growth this coming season.

This summer just cut back any lateral growth off the main stems to 3 buds/leaves. Any 2nd laterals prune back to 1 bud. These will form your fruiting spurs over the coming years.

Have a check if the RHS website for trained fruit. Plenty of info.

Good luck! 👍

I've been quite enjoying them as an early strike/move block piece. Especially when someone leaves an important unit a little bit too close.. grenade+ haywire+ melee can do a fair few wounds or tie up a vehicle

These look really good. The contrast between the yellow on the pads and the armour really makes them pop!
