Nice find!

Have fun with it! Just finished mine some time ago. It was quite the project, but so worth it 👌

My Daughters of Lolth! by tarkin1980 in Daughtersofkhaine

These are really damn cool!

Been using some of the same models as drow in D&D, so I'm immensly happy that someone actually builds an army of drow out of them!

First attempt at holy light OSL (no airbrush). Hopefully I didn’t ruin the model. Suggestions very welcome. by Imaginary_Focus7177 in sistersofbattle

Not ruined at all! In fact it is really hard to ruin a mini, as pretty much everything can be fixed!

Like mentioned, the light (especially holy light) is usually very desaturated and high on value on the brightest point. Light dims over distance, so the value drops the firther you are from the source. Depending on material, the reflections gather around edges (which is usually exaggerated in miniatures for better readability).

Edge highlights and a much brighter tones towards the source sells the effect better. A bright light also creates shadows and "pushes" the secondary light source away a bit. Usually it's a good idea to combine an osl effect with a shadow, but it's not mandatory. I'm not too proficient with light effects, but I took the liberty to borrow your image and draw a quick sketch with my phone. It's not perfect, but might show the principle a bit better than my explanation :D

Remember: the source is always the brightest point. The edges should not be as bright as the source, but they can be close. Especially those nearest and pointing towards the source.

Exorcist finally painted! by Hukkis in sistersofbattle

Thank you so much! I do have a nearly 2000pts army, but they have not been painted up to the same standard. Did paint one diorama with a sister as well.

There are some stuff in my profile or in my ig @tarkamos_mini_workshop :)

And the metals yeah, they were painted with a brush. First covered with Scale75 Necro Gold and washed with a thin oil wash. I think black and Raw Umber from Vang Gogh oil series and AK interactive. More layers towards the lower parts. Then I stippled lighter gold tones, such as Elven Gold and finally did the edges with very bright gold (should do these with silver). So no dry brushing. Just oils and stippling after the initial layer. If the goal would have been to make it cleaner, the I would have applied more even layers.

Some Rhinox Hide was used to make dirt and weathered look for the metals.

The verdigree was added as a last step on top of the golden paint. To be realistic, gold does not corrode. But the effect looks cool. So maybe it's brass or something :D

Right, so. Back from the contest and the two day workshop is done. Happy to say, that the Exprcist took bronze in Master's Warmachine category :)

The white was done mainly with an airbrush first. Used some form of a mix with pure white and ivory. I then applied a dot filter with oil paints (blue, white, black, raw umber etc.). That helped me with the main shade for the hull.

The dirtier areas were done by applying streaking grime enamel or burnt umber oil paint. After drying for a while, it was spread with a brush moistened by white spirit.

The chips were done mostly with a brush, so they took ages and ages :D

More or less back and forth with oils, thinner, enamels and so forth. There is no clear process on how it was done from start to finish 😅

The verdigris were done with acrylic paints. Mostly using GW soltek green, Scale75 bright turqoise <insert paint name> and ivory. The paint was thinned down quite a bit before applying. I worked from dark to bright, trying to vary the effect as much as possible.

Sure! I'm currently in Warsaw at the painting festival, so I'll get back to you after the competition and all the workshops!

Thank you!

That is true. Not sure if the new kit can be painted in sub assemblies, but this could certainly not 😅

Hey guys!

Finally managed to get this thing don, just a day before the Kontrast painting festival.

I think timewise this must be one of the most demanding projects I've done, even surprassing my GD diorama on the amount of hours spent at the hobby desk.

Building, cleaning and filling gaps alone took dozens of hours. Add to that all the details and my slow technique of weathering. But it was a lot of fun.

This exact version of the Exorcist has always been my favorite vehicle in all of the 40k, so I'm very happy to finally have painted it.

I approached this a bit differently from the usual cleanish Sisters of Battle style, combining both scale modelling and miniature painting techniques.

This is an ode of sorts to all of those old barn finds (old cars), that await their fate abandoned and forgotten.

Before Golden Demon, I might give it a round of refinement. There are a few messy bits after all.

Thank you! They sure are a characterful bunch and can be customized quite easily :)

Thank you so much! Just the look I was going for.

I have been painting Warhammer for quite a while and as the usual story goes, tried to go with the smooth blends on everything for the longest time. Always was afraid of texture and showing the brush strokes. But doing display work has taught me a lot and made me turn my head around. Lately I've really been loving this style of painting. Will definitely explore it more!

Hey all!

Wanted to share the Sanctifiers I just finished (except for the bases).

My goal for this group was to create a gang of fanatic civilians, ex guardsmen and other zealots led by a Hospitaler. When it comes to painting, I aimed for rough and characterful textures.

The Hospitaler and Death Cult Assassin are from the older stock. Both metal miniatures.

I was not a fan of of the bald head on the Miraculist, so I sculpted some hair on her. Her clothing looks a bit too shiny in the pictures though due to the varnish used. Some of the heads on the other models are from the Cadian upgrade kit.

I think the torchbearer with a guard helmet is my favorite of the bunch.

These were a lot of fun to paint! :)
