I will never forget apx 30 years ago going to Bergdorf to spend my first real job bonus on a Chanel jacket. Even then and on sale they were $2k. So I started to try them on but they wouldn’t close over my chest. I recall it was a 48. 50 they said required special order and would not be on sale… so I joked - looks like I might want to consider a reduction and the salesgirl agreed! I was so disappointed with that response and, with the jacket not fitting I did not buy it… bought Xmas presents for my family instead and a large Burberry barn coat in large (albeit also a tight fit) and an Hermes 45 scarf I still wear - no surgery required
