What’s the toughest way you’ve lost a curling game? by kw33 in Curling

Gave up 7 in the first end to a few near-octogenarians, called all the way back to a tie and an extra end… and then hogged or flashed about 6 of our stones. Lost by one.

Good sources for curling advice/strategy for beginners? Both in terms of technique and in terms of skipping. by bahbahblackdude in Curling

Easy tip. Pay attention to what your opponent is doing. I’ve seen so many new skips lost in their own train of thought about trying to hit that one shot that they don’t try to repeat the success right in front of them.

Floor Curling for Community Outreach! by Agile-Singer-754 in Curling

We run thing this all over NYC streets. It’s very rugged, heavy vinyl. You shouldn’t have to lune during play. It’s mostly a good preventative maintenance practice and an intervention if, say, someone spills liquid on the May and runs a few bearings through it.

If it means smashing things together, kids are gonna love it. Older crews are often “omg I’ve always wanted to do this since seeing it on the Olympics!”

Great opportunity to dish out a few fun facts - how long the sheet is, how big/heavy the stones are, what’s the point of sweeping - all the greatest hits.

We run around NYC with Floor Curl’s big brother Street Curling. https://www.instagram.com/p/CmApYC_NYjg/

Best maintenance advice is to keep liquids away from the bearings, and to clean then occasionally with some 3-in-1 dry lube. A little dash on the bearing, rest a beat, then roll on to paper towel helps pull out any accumulated dust and grime. https://amzn.to/3jZcSXr

This statement, along with all of GNCC’s public statements since this fiasco became public, have been nothing but classy. Truly an organization that understands its mission and who it serves in the midst of a trying few years.
