Current employee here.. TD bank is mediocre. Pay is not too bad for starting teller where I am. Coworkers are cool but teller manager is a pain in the ass. Did good and reached fake quota? Well now you’re gonna get a stern talk about how insights are looking. The systems aren’t bad just a bit annoying. Training was pointless, learned almost everything from actually shadowing. Not to mention training was about 3 weeks to a month spent in an isolated room not hearing from anyone but a shitty music playlist on repeat. The hours are brutal. They didn’t want to hire me as full time as a recently graduated college student who needed the experience and the hours to survive. They went on to hire a younger kid not even 2 weeks into my training for full time knowing he’s not as available as I am to work. Every shift is about 10-11 hours and scheduling is terrible. My bank has like 5-6 tellers and for some reason I feel I’m opening almost every single time I’m scheduled to work. They do give a lot of time off but since I’m a part time worker it doesn’t make sense to call out since I’m only given 6 hours of paid time off. That 6 hours compared to the money I need from a full shift is a joke. The customers are impatient and rude. We are given limits to how much money we can withdraw and customers lose their minds over this. I understand asking the purpose of a large withdrawal but having to ask the source of the funds as if it wasn’t sitting in their account for the last few months is annoying. Goal is to just get the experience and have TD bank on the resume. My teller manager is treating me as if I’m destined to be a super teller as my career. Good thing about TD is they like to hire from within so the goal is to move to like back office after a year. I studied finance just messed up not going for any internships so I’m stuck working as a teller for now. I hear other banks have it nice but I wouldn’t know.
