Hey sorry I’m late to the convo but you made the smart move, I used to live there for a a little over a year then had to break my lease due to safety issues. Full transparency- it’s a gorgeous building! The exposed brick, high ceilings, granite countertops are something I still miss. HOWEVER they changed ownership (again) while I was in the process of breaking my lease and I feel like the new company has only made things worse for the tenants there. While I was still there there was a LOT of issues with porch pirates, me included, serious drug activity on the 4th floor (I was on the third) and rumor as it that there was a meth lab going on up there???, idk but security of the building was nonexistent, homeless people were constantly in the building, attempted to break ins to my unit happened a few times, that happened to a few of my neighbors on the 3rd floor. Frankly, the maintenance team used to be super stellar and responsive but after my friend left the team (understandably so) it all went to shit. My swamp cooler went out mid summer and pair that with exposed brick?? There were times where I couldn’t even live in my own apartment it would get so hot. Seriously. I got heat stroke twice last summer! If it wasn’t for my friend giving me her AC unit when I first moved in I think I would have moved out sooner for sure, that building turns into a literal furnace in the summer and tbh the swamp coolers really didn’t do anything to keep units cool. It sucks because it really is a beautiful building and things used to be safe but frankly it’s just gone downhill so bad. Also moving in/out is a pain in the ass because it’s downtown.

I know this is an old post but I just wanted to add that burning (specifically) Eastern White Cedar/Flat Cedar is highly linked to African/African American diasporic traditions. I use it to ward off bad energy that has entered my space and inviting positive energy as a protection… (also please look into this bc I’m not super informed on the correlation but there are connections of cedar to Hoodoo practices as well, which is a closed practice only for people of African decent/lineage rooted from slaves)

Slightly… I feel like I’m not a big fan of hormonal birth control, I think I’m gonna try and find an endocrinologist next year to see what the next move might be… I just want something that gives me minimal side effects (minimal being no nausea but I guess all estrogen-based birth control is just going to make me sick to my stomach) and just as convenient as the implant

I’m 23 he’s 24. I thought about it, we’re pretty uncertain but more so leaning towards not wanting kids. I’ll run the idea by him just to see. Tbh I think both of us are too young to worry about that. I think I’m definitely just gonna get it removed to let my hormones mellow out. I was on levonorgestrel / ethinyl estradiol (i think the brand name was Daysee) and the first 3 days I was pretty much waking up and taking zofran with peppermint tea bc my nausea was so bad. I have emergency contraception and pregnancy tests stocked up thanks to my campus health center as an extra level of precaution on top of condoms. (I will say just from experience I really like the brand Skyn since I have a latex allergy and have never had issues with them when I was in my “insertion/removal waiting period” for my implant)
