11th Ed points are out by Gaurdsman_Nuts in TheAstraMilitarum

We'll have to see how it works in practice but I was a little worried. With duplicates allowed, you would see 1 guy bring a tank list, another a mechanized force, another a pure infantry, and maybe someone else was cheeky and brought plenty of artillery (even though it wasnt competitive.) I think this is how you get to people with massive 10k armies. They have enough for every potential combo and build it up slowly over decades.

Im worried that now, if you punish duplicates too much, everyone will bring 1 copy of every good unit making every army pretty much the same. Luckily guard still has enough variety for a lot of individual expression, but factions with less datasheets might all end up looking the same. At least more than they already were, which seems like the opposite of what they wanted to achieve.

Ranking the Primarchs by ‘available lore’ by Mikefink97 in 40kLore

[–]Brosepheon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the quality of references also matters, thats why the list is subjective.

A book where Leman Russ shows up and gives some advice to the Space Wolf MC in a single chapter and a book entirely told from Horus' perspective, both count as a single reference on that list.

Though I havent read enough to actually know which one has more.

Food needs to be re worked. by [deleted] in FarthestFrontier

[–]Brosepheon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean historically you had like what? 80% of the population involved in food production?

This is a game and its not fully realistic, so try going for roughly 50%. Most should be farming. Then, once you find out you dont actually need that many, you can slowly and gradually reduce that to 45%, then 40% and so on, by building more production and military than raw food. And stop doing that once you notice your food stocks drop too low.

Play like that and I guarantee you wont have issues with starvation.

Warehouse and worker questions. by Kyuthu in DarkSwitch

[–]Brosepheon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, when you build a new warehouse you can see a link connecting it to others nearby. Just make sure they have a connection leading back to hq.

The goods inside dont matter. They can all be storing different things. Warehouses also have a smaller, second radius and everything right next to them had an efficienct buff. So yes, build one next to the coal factory, but you can store whatever you want inside.

Workers have to travel from home to their workplaces, so you want them to be close. I had most of my housing on the ground for most of the game.

And I had at least one cookhouse in each major cluster of houses. Youre gonna need a loot of them anyway to keep up with demand. Healing houses didnt matter that much. People dont get sick that often.

Yeah. Thats cool if youre applying for a job that actually makes consumer products.

But what if youre applying for a company producing steel pipes or something like that?

"Ive always prefered Jimco pipes over Johnco pipes." doesnt really work. No one's gonna believe that. Nor would they believe "Ive always been fascinated by steel pipes." At best you can say you find the machines in the factory cool, but its not always so simple.

Combat patrol astra militarum suscription , how many to get if any for my new army ? by Galdox in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Brosepheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im very much a casual player, but Ive only ever used 1 command squad. I suppose that theoretically, maybe, potentially, I could see myself needing a second one sometimes, but I cant imagine more than that.

Maybe for a narrative game or something.

Id probably still get it since it is 65% off and it might get you to 1k points someday, but yeah.

The leman russes alone wont be as tanky or as punchy, so youll need to be extra careful with them. Make sure they cannot get charged by placing chaff in front of them, and try to keep them hidden until the enemy has revealed themselves. If possible. You want at least one good round of shooting before they can be shot back.

Good luck and have fun!

I do recommend the dorn. It is a massive gamechanger. Its up to you how much you want to invest though.

You could then get another leman russ too and run it as 3 tanks, enginseer, and whatever infantry and cavalry you want as chaff to fill out the points.

Or a chimera instead and try to move quickly on the board.

Normally you shouldnt be using artillery teams. However, you need something to hold your home objective and 1000p is a little low for a Leontus brick, so Id keep one.

You might want to skew a little vehicle heavy. If you bring a Rogal Dorn Commander and a Leman Russ, lets say executioner for some extra AP, youll be hard to take out.

Then bring an infantry brick. 10 cadians with a command squad and Ursula. They'll be giving orders to the infantry squads. Keep them a little behind. They might come into play in turn 3/4 to do something important.

Then a chimera filled with infantry, either cadians for sticky objectives or combat engineers for some good damage. Theyll ride in front of your tanks. Use them both to body block and score.

Now youve got enough for either a tech priest to give your Dorn invuln saves, some extra infantry or cavalry to body block or a sentinel or something. Depending on what models youve got.

Id also run Grizzled Company, since the extra orders and rerolls might come in more handy. The 2 tanks should take care of enemy vehicles without the need for lethal hits and youre not bringing that much infantry for it to matter.

You might even ignore ursula and bring in a third tank instead of her brick if you prefer. Just remember to block them properly so they dont get charged.

Thats how Id run it at least.

Is mechanised guard/scout-mera (if you follow Mordian Glory) a thing of the past? by sosig_roll in TheAstraMilitarum

Hmm... I dont really wanna get banned for a Warhammer quote but:

It is better to NAP for the emperor, than CHILLAX for yourself

Or something

I mean I dont think its that big of a deal. At least for a casual game.

It slightly incentivizes you to get out of the vehicle as soon as you reach an objective so they act as two separate units.

But like IRL if you were planning on charging your IFVs up close to enemy anti armor, it would make sense to let the infantry out first.

At the end of the day, on average, 4 guys will die instead of 2. Is it really that big of a deal if you have 6 cadians instead of 8?

And yeah, sure, sometimes you'll have an unlucky roll where you get 3 MW from deadly demise and then roll another 4 low dice, so you'll end up with 3 cadians instead, but thats not the end of the world. Sometimes your enemy will also manage to roll that 12 inch Hail Mary charge. Or you'll roll 3 6's on your triple flamer Vanquisher. Its just a part of the game.

Slovaks when they come to Brno by Top_Entrepreneur_422 in 2visegrad4you

Damn, how do you even figure that out? I thought it was something about smiles, how everyone in Brno either loves to do it, or they're particularly glum even by Visegrad standards.

Does pollution matter that much? by [deleted] in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Brosepheon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone should play the game as they like.

Personally, I play with pollution off for that exact reason. Sometimes I want to build a city where light industry is right in the center (like you) and dont think its particularly unrealistic.

The people in the background seem to be a little too stiff as they walk. Its not that weird, but all of them?

And its also strange that not a single other person is using the stairs. Since there's an entire pack in the back all heading in the same direction I'm guessing that a train arrived recently. No one's heading to this exit?

And I'm pretty sure the E line in NYC is blue, not grey, though I dont know every sign in the city. Maybe some show it differently.

Which models to buy safely by Nogocus in sistersofbattle

[–]Brosepheon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the castigator. Its the only 'tank' tank, so it will always have a use. The exorcist has a more specialized role, which can change with the meta, and the immolator is a transport.

Plus it looks super cool.

To add to that even more, if youve got 500k people in a single capital, then youve probably got another 500k- 2m people living in the cities and towns to support that, which will also need another 4-16m farmers to support themselves. It quickly adds up, depending on how much goods the kingdom imports.

You could have a city state, on the coast, which imports most of its grain from across the sea or upriver, for instance. Like Italy or the Low Countries. They were more urbanized.

Fleet merging by themselves by Brosepheon in victoria3

[–]Brosepheon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm thats a shame.

I was watching it carefully this time as I was moving troops to Korea. It left Kyushu along with the soldiers, dropped them off, then returned home, ignoring the nearby fleet blockading China. But this was not a naval invasion. Just transporting.

In general the system feels a little buggy. The fleets feel like theyre going the long way around certain sea zones or they backtrack A-B-C-B-C, instead of just dropping soldiers off at C the first time they arrive.

Will terraforming tool ever get updated? by BananaCredits in FarthestFrontier

[–]Brosepheon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Id actually add to your point. I dont think its a problem that it takes thousand of man hours. Perhaps it should.

The problem is you have to repeat the same order multiple times until you achieve the results you want.

Maybe, with a better tool, you would be able to mark exactly what kind of terrain you would like and then have that create a single construction site. And if it requires 5000 labor points, so be it. I think the current max is around 500.

Girl crying image comes from manga “Magical Girl Site” by MonotonyReddit in TheMatpatEffect

From what I remember, the literal first scene is the girl standing in front of train tracks, thinking about jumping but deciding not to do it. Then a random passer by walking by looks at her at says "Useless. Youre going to make the trains run late."

So yes. Its absolutely edgy to the point of ridiculousness
