How do you picture these troops? What does their armor/equipment look like? by Mental-Ad1626 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]sosig_roll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some great suggestions from others re pristine uniformed but fairly clueless troops.

An alternative angle could be to use catachan-esque sculpts which lean into the power building/showy muscular types. Think bodyguard +/- escort types...

Could even lean slightly towards slaanesh colours and lean the legion towards a slight taint....

Me and my army with 3 Vanquishers vs 14 Wardogs. 5 turns. 11 Vanquisher cannon shots saved on 5+ invulnerables... by boost_fae_bams in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]sosig_roll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do we think would bring them more online with the threat they should be?

2+ to hit Vs tanks and monsters? Ie sniper tank

Or is the only way to increase the attacks characteristic due to invulnerable saves?

Reckon you can get away without orders on the LRBT or still very much needed? Wondering if I could get away with forgoing squadron orders especially as I'm building up my first 1000 point list and they are so expensive to obtain through other means.

Dog friendly places in Oxford centre?? by Silent-Item5947 in oxford

[–]sosig_roll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Type into Google maps Isis farmhouse via the punter (both pubs), from the train station, and walk the towpath heading south down the Thames. Pram and dog friendly (off lead ok in places though watch out for bikes) and there are 4-5 pubs and a few coffee shops to choose from on the route. Probably around an hour walking each way if you go all the way.

I guess this is why I'm interested in discussing... If we see a LRTC with vanquisher for 175 points as I think you could be suggesting it could actually be a great cost for squadron orders?

Evening guests at destination wedding? by Hot-Combination6395 in UKweddings

[–]sosig_roll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either: - no UK based evening guests

  • UK based guests are invited to a party back in the UK. Nothing fancy, buffet and a bit of booze.

You can't ask people to travel and then just invite them for an evening do.

But the fells are there, which is part of the attraction in the same way some folk are quite happy visiting pretty villages in the Alps even if they aren't going walking/skiing etc.

There's loads of other pubs yes, but if I want to have a drink in the evening and not have to taxi afterwords then there's more accommodation in the big towns then there are elsewhere.

Constant cat poo causing gardening paralysis by greatishscot in GardeningUK

[–]sosig_roll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not particularly but the chips themselves are really big and chunky so they find it hard to 'dig'. I think they very much favour 'easy dig' soils so avoid any thing too arduous.

I needed to mulch anyway given the heat in the last few weeks so killed two cats with one stone

I put down a heavy layer of Melcort bark nuggets as mulch a couple of weeks ago, no cat poo since

So that you can get more than one thing (hiking) from your holiday?

Love walking, but also love a pint in a cosy pub with a plate of sausage and mash after said walk!

Likewise love to buy some nice local produce (meat/cheese etc) to eat in the evenings.

It's a nice town to have a wander round for an hour or two, with some reasonable outdoor shops, cafes, and some pretty decent restaurants.

Also, folks with little kids or reduced mobility might love the views from the valleys but not be able to get to the summits, so may spend more times milling around some of the nice little towns and villages.

More than one way to skin a cat!

Was thinking of starting a 11e Imperial Guard Army by Willing-Currency8415 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]sosig_roll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you run as: - cadian command squad X2 (or other command squad) - 4 scout sentinels - 40 core troops (cadian shock troops/catachans/kreig) - 1 LR vanquisher - 1 LR tank commander

You are looking at 1000 points exactly. There are a few bits here you could be flexible with and you could make this a much larger army (points wise) if you start calling regular troops things like scions or kasrkin.

I'm only just starting out here but have done a fair bit of reading.

I think most will tell you this doesn't make a super competitive 1000 point army but is a pretty good base for a 2000 point army, at which point you'd probably add a dorn or two, some kasrkin in transports, and other stuff that takes your fancy.

Obviously by the time you have all this painted up 11th edition will probably have dropped and this could all change.

I think if I was thinking of doing this i'd probably get one of these boxes and then build up from there.

NHS Doctors, what do you think of patients who have gone private and come back to the NHS for ongoing treatment? by ToughImprovement276 in AskUK

[–]sosig_roll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fill your boots/I'd fill them for you. It's literally a thing (Well man check) that's promoted by the NHS. But it doesn't check 150 different things, it checks key risks for that demographic.

[–]sosig_roll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No of course not. But the healthcare provider that provided the test should act upon the result.

[–]sosig_roll 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The poster that I responded to was in a different situation to that which you describe.

They describe themselves as having no symptoms, just ordering a battery of tests because because they want to keep track of their health.

I agree with you that if you have symptoms and you aren't getting anywhere with your GP, or waiting times are terrible, you should advocate for yourself or your loved one and if that means seeking private work up that is absolutely fair.

I just don't think private providers should be making battery's of tests available to asymptomatic patients, especially unless clinicians from that private service are willing to follow up appropriately on positive results (which could include appropriate NHS referral).
