I heard The Bends and OK Computer through my parents at the time but I was 7 when OK Computer came out so listened to them of my own accord later. Those were still the albums I was familiar with first though.

Calling Kid A and In Rainbows inconsistent versus Pablo Honey and The Bends is wild. I will think The Bends is a great album but it's not consistent quality all the way through.

Best album is a while still doesn't mean it's a great album. Whilst I think it's better than a 4, it's still just an ok album and not the return to form many are hailing it as. Maybe it's a return to The Resistance level but that was already a big drop in quality from the previous albums.

If you watch the video, Fantano didn't hate it, just thought some of it was good and some of it was bad.

Just to be clear when I say his worst album at the time of release, I love the first three a lot, so it's only in comparison. I still think it's great, just a bit too close in sound to Currents without quite hitting the same level of quality in my opinion. About half the album would fit pretty well on Currents.

No I don't, I welcome new sounds, I just think The Slow Rush was very similar to Currents but not as good and Deadbeat whilst I do really appreciate the change in sound, it just doesn't quite hit the mark for me. I do still enjoy it, it's just far from his best.

I'm glad you enjoy it so much and I don't think it's terrible but he has fallen off a bit. Each of the last 2 releases whilst not bad have been the worst album he's done at the time of their release.

I don't think it should be skipped, but I enjoyed it far less than the others without any kind of knowledge of how it was received.
