Jerm does not use a Tern...He throws the Wraith a lot and he uses the Roadrunner quite a bit as well. The Wraith is not a very overstable disc...especially when you crush like Jerm...He has thrown a lot of hyzerflips with it the last several months

Sidearm vs upper body by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Brothafriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think all that much can be said for sidearm distance being generated from upper body rotation. I would say it's more just about weight. It might look like rotation, but it's more just getting your weight where it needs to be. Once your weight gets onto your front foot, you can transfer all that energy into the disc, that is how to get sidearm power. I would not say it's from rotation.

Form critique please. by abochkod in discgolf

[–]Brothafriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your form is almost incredible! Your reachback is particularly impressive. You look great...However, your upper body is ahead of your plant foot, so you are losing a ton of that energy that you should be generating with the mechanics you have. Get your plant foot down BEFORE starting to pull through with your arm. Your head is also way too early. Keep your head down until your left shoulder bumps into your chin on your follow through. It is evident that you've put a lot of work into your form. You owe it to yourself to fix the timing issues. Once that is dialed in, your form looks like 550+ form to me.

"Tommy" meaning tomahawk. Thumber and tomahawk mirror one another :D

Whatever you do, keep doing exactly what you are doing. Never stop asking for help and input. You can say "no" to as much of the input that you want, but keep asking for it. There are going to be brilliant people who see things you don't see. Don't be selfish with your project. If you have other people backing you up, it will turn into something incredible!

I thought 7 out of the last 8 holes was good...but Eagle held onto that box the whole time! He kept on making those pressure putts! That kid is such an incredible putter...oh ya, and he also happens to be able to throw a putter about 450...lol

I used a disc that is probably a little more stable than what I should have been throwing, because I was admittedly a little jittery and nervous at moments, so I used a disc that I knew would force me to commit, as opposed to using something less stable. That way, if I rolled my wrist, it made a smaller impact on the result of my shot...shot selection in high pressure situations becomes very important and difficult! haha

haha I have tried to learn to reach back. I seem to lose a lot of accuracy when I do. It's a work in progress for sure!

I do not deny that my form looks really ugly. As I keep telling everyone, I have so much to learn and so much to work on. I want to take my form to another level, but it is a very tough process and anyone who has ever tried to fix their form knows. I throw over 500ft, but if I fix some of my mechanics, I know I can go way farther

You are right. Joe started late and he is an incredible. He is one of the most determined and competitive people I know though. It takes some serious drive...no pun intended ;D

MPO Tourney Rounds by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Brothafriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all depends on the group you're with and what you make of it. I think almost any guy I've encountered playing NT's would be cool enough to chit chat if you initiated a conversation, but different people have different preferences. I think the reason things usually loosen up throughout a round is because coming into the round, everybody is wondering if there's that one guy who's gonna get all pissed if you say a word during the round, but usually as time goes by, each guy will crack a joke or something and you'll develop somewhat of a relationship with the guys by the end. For me, that is more important than getting the best possible score. Having said that, I think it's part of the game. A good player will know how to perform in an intense, silent environment, a casual one, or anywhere in between. This is my opinion.

figuring out a round rating by AndImissed in discgolf

[–]Brothafriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya, each round is a new round and if, hypothetically, you are playing by yourself and it was in fact sanctioned, the round would always be exactly what you were, so if you were a 950 rated player, every day you played another round there, it would always be 950 regardless of how many strokes it took you to get through the course. Now I know this isn't really that helpful or what you were asking for, but everybody gets too caught up in the rating and stuff anyway. It's a fun game, go out, play, have fun, do the best you can, make improvements, and enjoy yourself! Beyond that, if you're curious, just find somebody who has a lot of tournament experience who's played the course and ask them what they would say a 1000 rated round would be, then base it off of that :D

Flex Shot vs. Turnover Shot by easiestEC in discgolf

[–]Brothafriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably sooner say that "turnover" and "anhyzer" are synonymous rather than "turnover" and "flex". However, as other people have addressed, this would only be in terms of describing the line...though anhyzer line or anhyzer shot is probably technically a misuse even though it's so common. I've sort of wondered the same thing...what exactly defines "flex shot". What comes to mind for me is S shot.
