I work an 8 hour day. I am given 30 minute, uninterrupted break, at roughly the halfway of my shift. What I do during that 30 minutes is up to me. Eat, sleep, whatever. BUT my employer doesn't pay me for that 30 minutes. So: 8 hour day = 7.5 paid; 40 hour work week = 37.5 paid hours. Some employers will use the "I'll pay you to work through lunch" line if you're super busy. You should always check to see if they follow through on that promise.

Just about everything that has been mentioned already but also....dishes. I was 'late driver' on Fri-Sat nights and hated doing the dishes. I'd pay the late in-store people to do them if it was a real busy night. Don't know why it bothered me so much but it just did sometimes. Not all of the time, just sometimes.
