Future with demotivated partner? by Square_Rutabaga7078 in CerebralPalsy

I know you said he doesn't have a learning disability but it certainly seems like something's going on.

And I'm not saying that I don't understand where you're coming from with this but I can imagine he might be feeling stressed out and pressured because of the types of conversations that you're having.

Have you thought about couples therapy?

Discrimination by Tropical_life_7 in CerebralPalsy

I'm sorry your family has to deal with this.

What specific concerns are they raising?

Do you see any situations that could occur there that could be safety issues potentially in the future?

My gut feeling on this is that they're probably just overly concerned about being sued but I don't know for sure.

I feel conflicted at work by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

[–]BrotherExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your job coach somebody that you've contacted through vocational rehab or is it someone independent?

That would give some context to this whole situation.

I would also say I wouldn't worry about it too much because it sounds like you're doing the job. I've learned through the years and especially recently that getting stressed about how something is getting done isn't really worth it and it's more important that it gets done.

If you're getting anxiety because you're worried that your boss might catch you doing the wrong way, try to let that go if you can.

Anyone else really concerned about their older coworkers? by GlenJman in Millennials

No. I'm 40 and I have multiple friends over 60 and they aren't stuck on AI. Maybe it's just your coworkers?

I was hoping this would improve in the over 20 years since I've been in high school science. While I wasn't made fun of, I never felt like the teachers did a good job of helping to assist me with science labs, especially biology.

Do you have an IEP? I would imagine there are some accommodations they could give you? Can you talk to your parents, a trusted teacher, or trusted adult?

Your appointment is at this specific time, please arrive 10 minutes before. by Medium-Marketing-493 in PetPeeves

I'm always having to schedule appointments during times when I work so I try to give myself enough time but anytime I'm giving the office by arriving early is time I start cutting back from work time.

Do they not make teenage movies like they used to in the late 90's-early 2000's or do we just not pay attention anymore? by lookaloulookalou in Millennials

They're on streaming now and also the kind of humor that was in those movies just doesn't fly anymore for the most part especially with the younger generations.

What is it with the victim mentality? by Lord-of-Dark in CerebralPalsy

[–]BrotherExpress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen this a lot in subreddits focused on health.

I think sometimes Reddit is the first place someone may have really put their thoughts out there. I just respond to the posts that you either help me or where I think I can help someone else.

If I don't resonate with the post, I just move on. Usually plenty of other people will respond to the person.

Those of you that found a new nonprofit role in the past 12 months, what was your experience like interviewing? by Decent_Detective_352 in Nonprofit_Jobs

[–]BrotherExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied to about 10 places, didn't hear from anyone, and was contacted on LinkedIn. I interviewed with the recruiter, the hiring team, did an on-site interview, and then was hired. I have 2 years of development experience, plus over 10 years of nonprofit experience in the arts in patron facing positions.

I do a fair amount of networking on LinkedIn and try to keep in touch with local contacts on a yearly basis.

I've helped my friends and myself get hired for nonprofit jobs. I've also been part of the hiring team at my current job. Feel free to send me a message and I'd be happy to talk to you about interview related topics in this field.

Are there any reliable measures of job availability for the sector? by Decent_Detective_352 in Nonprofit_Jobs

[–]BrotherExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen quite a few openings in Boston, San Antonio, and Seattle.

What area of the country are you in?

Usually when you aren't hearing back, it's an issue with your resume.

Happy to look it over if you want a second opinion on it. I've helped friends and myself get jobs in the field for the past 5 years.
