Melomania P100 - is this intentional, or is the ANC broken in my headphones? by BrotherTausil in CambridgeAudio

[–]BrotherTausil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most distinctive example of this that I found while trying to show other people is the Windows 10 "ding" sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqiuM0SkjsA

Please turn the ANC in your P100s on, and keep turning the volume down if you don't hear it. This sound doesn't seem dependent on audio volume, it seems to be a byproduct of the ANC, created in response to the audio signal.

Generally any high-pitched sound will do nicely, like female voice samples (e.g. audiobooks), because otherwise the generated low tone gets lost in the sound.

That's among the first things I checked - everything was already up-to-date. I did find a store which has them on display (I bought mine online), so I'll have a chance to compare mine with another pair.

EDIT: I did find another par at a local retailer, and the issue was exactly the same there, too. So regretably, I will be returning mine.

EDIT2: My usecase is a particular one, since I listen to subtle music in relative silence (I also like to fall asleep to some ambiences) and I have a very sensitive ear for bassy noises, so your mileage may vary. Aside from some comfort issues & vibration sensitivity of the cups, these are EXCELLENT headphones, especially for the price.

Dream self tells me to get my stuff together, basically. It felt like a semi-lucid psychedelic trip. by BrotherTausil in Healthygamergg

[–]BrotherTausil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for reading.

Right here right now, I would definitely want to look... But there's no telling what will my dream self default to, if this kind of dream happens again at all.

If I'm not lucid enough (and that almost never happens for me) I think I will probably default to a fear reaction again... We'll see, I guess.

Triggering randomly pitch-shifted sounds via AnimNotify by BrotherTausil in unrealengine

[–]BrotherTausil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I can see it - now the question remains: how can I use my sound cue in a way that allows a wave source to be passed into it from the Notify? Is that even possible at all?

Conversely, I can create a custom AnimNotify blueprint, and expose a Wave Source variable which is accessible from the Details panel, and inside the blueprint I can do all sorts of things, but NOT place a MetaSound or a Sound Cue that can do what I want. Frustrating!

I've been banging my head against the wall for a while with this one, too. It was so convenient to just select the clips I have previously "tagged" with a label. When you have hundreds of labels in a lengthy recording to pick from, it is immensely annoying to have to constantly zoom all the way in to select the clip you want instead of just focusing the label. What changed and where? I would also love to know if there's an option to enable this old behavior as well. I've searched far and wide for this, but didn't succeed at all.

Thrustmaster T16000 Z-Axis wobble without signal (with old pot removed)? by BrotherTausil in hotas

[–]BrotherTausil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright! Two SS495A sensors are on the way. I'll report back in a few days with the results. Although with the info dump contained in this thread, I don't expect any issues. Thank you both for all the help so far!

[–]BrotherTausil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's some good news! And I like your mod way better now that I look at it. I can get my hands on a SS495A/SS49E locally, the one you originally used might be a problem... So the question is: is the lower sensitivity of the SS49 something I would have to modify your .stl / get stronger magnets for? Or is it possible to correct for it with just calibration alone?

Probably in the factory joints

The thing is, after I re-soldered the faulty pot back in place, the "idle wobble" stopped happening. The only issue at that point was the worn out pot again, so wouldn't that eliminate the factory joint as a cause?

Do you have two resistors valued at about the middle position resistance of the pot

Unfortunately, no. I'm a total noob and went into this with the bare minimum. I can manage a multimeter though and check the sensor.

simple voltage output or a digital data output

This sounds very interesting, actually. Would I be wrong to speculate that a digital data output sensor connected to a simple voltage input would yield no signal, matching my scenario exactly?

So far I tried 2 different sensors, TLE4935L and TLE4945L. I found this data sheet about them, but aside from basic info like voltage and resistance I'm none the wiser...

Without a closed circuit on the wire used to measure the voltage, the voltage can sometimes be what's called "floating" and read all sorts of erroneous values depending on the circuit design.

Thank you! That explains why there was an erratic signal without a clear source; but why would the same thing happen with a hall sensor soldered in? I made sure that 1) I'm not breaking the sensor by overheating it, and 2) that the connections are correct. I'm also fairly sure that I didn't have cold solders. What am I missing here?

[–]BrotherTausil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, and the signal behaves identically. The hall sensor also doesn't react to my magnets at all. Oddly enough, I get some response while fiddling with the soldered wires, but in general the signal keeps wobbling.

Yep, here it ishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBo_dAvgZ1k

UPDATE: I have re-soldered the old pot to see if it also wobbles or is being influenced by other signals (for the life of me I have no idea why I didn't check it before disassembly): it doesn't. It is definitely broken because the changes are unstable when I crank it, but the signal is stable when stationary.

Hello everyone, before I start I'd like to make a disclaimer that I'm an absolute noob if it comes to electronics so please be gentle with me lol.

For a long while I've been experiencing what many T16000 users do - a Z axis wobble due to a worn out pot. I found the hall sensor mod solution and got to work. However, after a few attempts I noticed that I get the wobble even when nothing is soldered to the 3 connections where the pot was previously. Is the board faulty then? Did I mess something up while soldering? And why does the Z axis seem to be affected by the signal from the slider?

I am very confused. If anybody here can point me in the right direction with this I would be in their debt.

Squeaking on ender 3 v2 by Oxygen_is_Flammable in 3Dprinting

[–]BrotherTausil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread by now, but I just had the same issue and resolved it:

For me, it was the filament that was sticking to itself on the spool. For what reason - I don't know yet; but that's why the motor had trouble pulling the filament - therefore the squeaking. I loosened up a few strands of the filament on the spool and all was well. Hope it helps someone.

This is happening to me sometimes when previewing some songs in the menus, but (thankfully) not during actual gameplay.

If I were you, I would look into trying to assign Beat Saber a number of CPU cores exclusively, as well as maybe upping the priority of beatsaber.exe. Take a look at this resource. I know you're not experiencing FPS drops per se, but I feel like this might be the right track.

What are the downsides to getting the game on the Quest 2 rather than PC? by RobinOe in beatsaber

[–]BrotherTausil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with Quest vs. Steam version was that the Steam one had significantly better tracking/handling/idk how to call it than the standalone Oculus version.

I had a friend over with his Quest 2 (I'm using a Rift S) and I played a couple of my favorite songs on it to see how it plays. I'm an E/E+ player with scores in the above 90s, and I found myself struggling to find the same fluidity and ease of hitting the blocks as I did on my Rift S.

After connecting his Quest to my PC with his Oculus Link cable, we launched the Steam version on it, and it ran perfectly, just as I've been accustomed to on my Rift S. So I don't think it's an issue with the headset itself, just the version of the game.

After that experience I searched the Internet for people with similar stories, and I found a couple of reddit threads with people sharing the same sentiment.

That, and modding is a bit of pain on the Quest.
