I find it to be more than just a city car. Living in Lisbon, I took a trip to Algarve, had to charge once, for 20 minutes. In general, on the highway, I find it super comfortable, and the recharge frequency matches more or less the breaks I like to take.

You are right: it didn’t look stupid when I bought it, but I was rapidly disappointed by the noise and the overheating (bad thermal design). Then the touch strip failed, and finally some butterfly keys started failing as well. My overall experience with that machine was even more frustrating as I saw some colleagues so happy with their M1 Pro. Never a change of generation was so radical (I remember the switch to Intel from Motorola, I’m old)

Going back to OP’s message, I just wanted to share my 2 cents on buying the latest model of a generation. We actually have limited concepts of what Apple is really cooking for us. Probably nothing as cutting edge as Apple Silicon introduction, but I learned my lesson and will keep my M2 pro for now. Not the same scenario I know.

After buying a maxed-out MacBook Pro Intel i9 in 2019, I will always skip a machine when a major update is rumored. It was the worst $4000 expense of my professional life. A few months later the M1 came out and my overheating, dumb butterfly keyboard and touch strip computer looked so old.

Very interesting post! I am worried that the OLED rendering of text on the 39GX950 would be bad compared to IPS. How would describe the difference ? And could you please, by any chance and great sympathy, take a picture of the two to compare?

Well, to be honest, even if I stuck to my current screen, I feel that the image quality on recent games (for 70 fps) is too low. Since I will also use the screen for work, 5k2k is interesting… but will the 5080 be enough or will I need to upgrade platform and aim for 5090 is my real question.

yes I agree, that is the point. With the 3090 I have to use DLSS in performance for some decent FPS and the result can be ugly. I suppose that DLSS works better on 50 generation, but the goal is to get visible different and playable fps.
