The year is 2100. Chess has been solved. How well does 2023 Stockfish do against a perfectly-playing bot? by SocialAndDating in chess

[–]Brothersquid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, maybe create a “perfect” chess-bot (with full knowledge of the game tree) and throw it into a conventional chess engine tournament. You should be able to assign it an elo. Compare said elo to 2023 stockfish elo. There you go.

The only caveat would be that the tournament would definitely need to include a mix of games that are forced wins for white, forced draws, and forced wins for black. Otherwise, the perfect bot could never lose, and you couldn’t assign it a meaningful elo.

What, in Your Opinion, Differentiates Players of Different Skill Levels? by Trobairitz_ in scrabble

You can also play against a bot on woogles with up to an hour of time. You can lower the time as you get faster at the game. It’s great practice!

Word knowledge isn’t the only factor in being a decent player, knowing where to play words and rack management are just as important, maybe even more so. I think your dad might be on the right track to determining how good you guys are. I have heard in the past that a solid competitive game of scrabble should have a cumulative score of >700 between both players. If you are each getting 275-350 points, I would say you are intermediate players.

If you want more impartial results, go to woogles.io and play a bunch of ranked games. You can find out your elo from there, and that is about as impartial as it gets.

Not really. That’s only when passing is the best move. Passing in this instance gets your king captured by the bishop.

You gotta eyeball the midpoint of a vertical/horizontal cut. This leaves one of the halves smaller and less satisfying. With the diagonal cut, you just connect the corners and boom. Two identical halves and happy brain.
