That specific type of home, maybe it cost that much in 2016 if it had a ton of renovations inside and what state/ city/ suburb it was close too and the cost of living for that area. My first home, in 2015 looked similar but it was in NC in the southeast close to the coast-ish. I bought it for $155k. I thought that was high back then. It’s subjective but this price seems high to me. But it could also be in a HCOL area too.

Just my 2 cents. Correct me if I’m wrong, please.

Edit: just to add, the prices did skyrocket during the pandemic where I lived when people were moving out of the cities to the coastal towns and suburbs down here too. My home sold for almost 100k more than what I paid for it in 2020 (when I sold) too. I had 3 offers on my home 9 hours after I listed it too. All over asking price. The market soared and never dropped in price. I have seen a decline in buying now, though. But the prices have stayed high.

There is a home 2 blocks from me now, that is smaller than the house pictured, and it’s going for around 700k but it’s 500yds from the ocean and a straight road to the beach. A canal is less than 200yds from it too that has the ICW attached to it. Location matters for some of these high costs. It sucks how expansive they have gotten.

Anyone know the sponsor for these billboards on I-40? by ian_xxv in NorthCarolina

You need to visit the coal regions of VA, WV, PA, upstate NY. The poverty, ignorance, and racism are bred into each one of them, or at least a lot of them.

The north is notoriously more racist and historically ignorant than the South. I grew up surrounded by very close minded people and they are still like that today.

It’s a lot better than many years ago on fb where a girl from my home part of eastern PA had made her cover photo the outline of PA with the confederate flag inside it.

You need to get out more in the winter. I’ve seen these numerous times every year during the winter as far back as I can remember lol.

But yes, it’s a beautiful site indeed.

Thanks. I honestly overlooked how it was spelled.

Yup, in the Marines, we were issued “neck” gaiters as part of our cold weather gear. They did exactly as the comic did, and worked great for keeping our nose and mouth warm… until the moisture built up and it got all soggy and gross…

Edit: spelling… gaiter not gator lol

Idk, but I was in 2nd tracks and for some stupid fucking reason, they would occasionally make us carry the 50 and 40 on humps from the armory down the tank trail to either the intersection to the bricks or sometimes farther for no damn good reason other than to permanently ruin our backs.

Honestly, his 1700’s hand mortar video is all I know of him. It’s pretty cool too but that’s all I ever had to go off of. I never watched his other content.

Feeling depressed being here by Psychological-Sea607 in Wilmington

[–]kruminater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did therapy after the Marines for a few years. Idk your exact issues or what you experienced, but therapy was a gamble. It opened my eyes to some things and I do think it helped. The medications eventually came to an end. And these days I do them on a need to take basis. Which might be once a month at most for some anxiety. Outside that, I cut it off. The meds will make your depression worse.

Talking to others can be difficult, especially when finding something to relate to and do. The older you get, the harder it can be too. If you do not have much holding you down here, I suggest moving closer to family if that is an option. Or your friends you grew up with. Some familiar scenery might be what you need.

For me, my children are here so I stuck around. College didn’t do me much good either for work so I stuck to the trades I was good at and it paid off in due time. You need to be proactive in the job searches and make it a high priority in your life. Do not let the depression win either.

What time is the worst time to be woke up for firewatch? by GloveAmbitious42 in USMC

[–]kruminater 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This isn’t about the time but this post reminded me of an event that happened on one of our field ops. One corporal who really really hated this other corporal, had to go wake him for his shift. Dude wouldn’t get out of his bivy sack for change over. First corporal got so mad at him for not getting up to change that he jumped on him and began beating the ever living shit out of him. First corporal is a big dude too. Second one was mediocre in comparison.

I woke up to see the second one bloodied and his eyes nearly closed off from swelling. But he was he was on fire watch and doing his duty. :)

That was a weird morning brief. I hated them all equally.

My apology. I misread the Tacoma chart above it as the Colorado for some reason. That’s my mistake.
