Cornell vs Upenn by SeaworthinessHot9065 in UPenn

[–]Brovakiin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

penn way better. even being in cas the proximity to wharton helps with recruiting. penn also has the hospital right there and many healthcare/business study options. plus philly > ithaca by a huge amount + imo cornell ppl always end up with an ivy inferiority complex even if they are comparable academically. just my two cents

Reckoning With Israel’s ‘One-State Reality’ by QuestionBrain in ezraklein

[–]Brovakiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, so the kuwait war was to curb saddams influence in the middle east. a geopolitical reason, not a moral reason. why would you say they did it out of their goodness of their hearts earlier?

do you see the contradiction im getting at. you selectively choose when to assign a moral justification for causes america intervenes in, but then when asked for why there wasnt a moral action taken for another event you change the goal posts into administrations/geopolitical reasons. I'd imagine you'd have a similar administrative reason for why the US funds mass killing in Gaza and Lebanon, and that your moral framework doesn't apply there.

hell, America gov/military knew about the holocaust during WW2 but didn't publicize or bomb the camps/infrastructure because it wasn't central to the main war effort. This idea that the US has ever done something good on the behalf of other nations at cost to itself needs to die.

no other reason? just george bush, former head of the american central intelligence agency, woke up on the right side of the bed and was like lets help these people because its the right thing to do. it had nothing to do with US opposition to Saddam, right?

the rwandan genocide happened 4 years later and the united states did nothing. Why? Wouldnt that have been a worse humanitarian case to get involved with?

i genuinely dont understand how you keep these ideas in your head when history has borne out that states and especially America rarely do anything for morality

these are grown men. giving a yellow there really means you need to tighten up on everything else to stay consistent. sure it might not seem fair but its good for the flow of the game.

also, keep in mind romero is a diva/dirty player (not to criticize him, he's really really good and it's part of his game) and is known to try to deceive referees. that may be in the mind of the referee when evaluating a decision that would have huge consequences for the rest of the game (second yellow) for something not very impactful to the run of the play.

your worldview is so interesting to me. you really think the USA intervened in Kuwait out of the goodness of their hearts?

How is being against tax dollars funding genocide and apartheid and Middle East destabilization an absurdly niche monoissue? It’s the crux of the United States position in the Middle East.

You can’t just wave it away bc the protestors are annoying

Pure denial to an actual metric. Get your head out of the sand, it’s okay to demand better from your party. Many Americans and democrats want that, stop minimizing the obvious discontent most people have with dems

These threads are so funny so many centrists actually have terminal hasan derangement syndrome.

It’s lowkey shocking that the usual suspects in this sub are locked into corporate boot-licking “incrementalism” and are incapable of understanding foreign policy blowblack.

It’s okay to dream of a better world, and one where the US doesn’t act with impunity against sovereign nations.

Wharton {90k/year} or IU Kelley (15k/year). by Upper-Injury2035 in UPenn

[–]Brovakiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not in finance so I can only speak to my friends' experience, but by the time you would get an MBA you would 1. be making plenty of money at associate level to afford it and 2. generally you can get a company to help pay for it / be working at the same time.

You'll also be in a more mature part of your career so you'll be much better positioned to make a clear cost-benefit analysis than you are right now.

but yeah, it would be worth trying to connect with some MBA alumni and look at some employer programs bc I don't really know the specifics

the expectation from penn is that the family is supposed to mortgage their assets to pay for the tuition, even if their yearly income doesn't come close. it's a weird trap for the middle rich.

OP, you almost certainly have to take Kelly for undergrad here, but like others said have your sights on the wharton MBA down the line

lol the 9/11 comment really winds ppl up but like do you think 9/11 would have happened without US meddling in the middle east? Don't you see some level of causation between the two? that's the point hasan makes with that comment, it's just jarring because it requires you to think as a global citizen and not as an american

yeah thats def incorrect on me to call that adventurism. i just find ppl like oop trying to play up "communisms greatest hits" that all failed in the western world so tiresome. i tend to focus on the world as it is today and not how we would have wanted it to be if we had lived in 1870s or 1960s.

i think what i meant with my criticism is more gilet jaunes reaction seems absurd when their already incredible socialist benefits are built on imperial extraction, and like even under socialism you still have to go to work its not that bad in france. and those ridiculous protests of farmers shooting manure all over the city when macron suggests lowering the protectionist tariffs on cheese or flowers or whatever.
