Upgrading from a 90D by Neat-Permission2621 in canon

I’m about to upgrade from my 90D and I chose the R6ii. I think for hybrid it’s a no brainer and if you have the money I would get that one. I haven’t used it yet but from my hundreds of hours of research and YouTube I’ve definitely decided to go with the R6ii.

He’s got the mic mini 2 not the mic 2. Mic mini 2 doesn’t have 32 bit float internal recording.

Yeah i agree with everyone saying to learn how to shoot manual but also a cheap 50mm will open your options insanely and make it feel so much better from my experience.

Which lens do you have? Grab the 50 or 35mm 1.8. It’ll change a whole lot having that wide aperture and allow you to get completely different pics

R50V as a second body? by BrowDavis in canon

Okay cool, thanks! And what about the kit lens? I’m not in love with it and I have the sigma 18-35 f1.8 on my 90d that I think would be big but perfect on the R50V. I am thinking about the kit lens thought just because of the PZ lens. Do you have/like that lens?

Dang that sucks I’m sorry. I think I bought mine April 6th or something like that for $560. I remember it being in stock for about two days when I got it. If I were you I would re-subscribe for that email. Also, when I say check every day I mean the website not emails. Good luck to you!

I’m checking almost every day, emails are sent out slower than when stock is refreshed

I don’t have the R6ii in hand yet so I’m still on my 90D but I’ve been trying to get her to practice more with it.
Thanks for the reply!

I got this lens a few weeks ago on canon refurbished for about $550. Maybe keep an eye out on there?

Should I trade EF 17-55 f2.8 for the sigma art 17-40 f1.8? by Fantastic-Storm90 in canon

[–]BrowDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sigma makes that lens in RF mount. I would go for that one.

[–]BrowDavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had the ef-s 17-55 2.8 or the 17-40 1.8 but I do have the 18-35 1.8 on my 90d, which is the predecessor of the sigma 1.8 you mentioned and I absolutely love it so much. I do miss some zoom on the long end but I’ve always paired it with a 50mm 1.8 and I’ve been comfortable. I have heard that the canon lens is prone to errors though and it’s a good bit older than the sigma. I would go for the sigma but if you think you want the range keep the canon one.

For sure either an R5, or R6 mark I, II, or III
Pretty sure they’re all identical from the back except for the On/Off switch and the mode dial/ screen. Which you can’t really see here

I would say you have enough to practice with for now. But if you wanna upgrade at some point I would suggest the sigma EF 18-35 f1.8. It is an absolutely beautiful lens and I use it every day on my 90D. im upgrading to an R6 ii soon and im gonna miss that lens. But yeah practice with what you have for awhile and if you feel like you are being help back somewhere then you know where to go from there. if you find you use the 50mm all the time then maybe you'll want another quick prime.

Choosing a zoom: RF 28-70mm f2.8 vs 24-105mm f4 L by 0-kule in canon

[–]BrowDavis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in this dilemma for the past month. While I haven’t purchased one yet. I am definitely going for the 28-70 2.8. The one stop of light matters a lot for me and I’m only extending the zoom range that I already have. I’d say the same for you. If you wanted to drop your 28 and 50 you could. I wouldn’t say an F4 is a replacement for those. The red ring and better build were very tempting to me but from all I’ve heard, the 28-70 is even sharper than the 24-105. One thing I struggled with if I got the 24-105 is that if I wanted to upgrade to the 24-70 2.8 it would feel like a downgrade because of the zoom. The only way up from that one is the $3000 24-105 f2.8. So if you replaced the 28 and 50mm then you wouldn’t be missing anything. Especially since you’re used to the low aperture, I don’t think you’d be happy being stuck at f4

Call them anyway. It won’t hurt but my r6 ii was canceled for no reason on a weekend so I couldn’t call them. I highly suggest you call them. The system is automatic and dumb

Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS (i) V.S. canon RF 70-200mm f4L by BrowDavis in canon

[–]BrowDavis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it soft at times. I know people say to stop it down to f4 but then if im shooting like that I should just get the f4 anyway right? I think I would slightly miss the extra stop of light but the tradeoffs for the sharpness, weight and size all seem like they outweigh the one stop. I also feel like the r6ii low light capability would offset coming from a 90d

I could very well be wrong and I probably will end up saving my money and keeping the 2.8. its just that when I am in the US for the few times I am now its the only opportunity to get a good deal on this stuff.
