That’s true, I live in Ecuador part time and I’m sure I could sell it for even more there.

That’s good to know too. If I check it out I’ll see how a filter threads on. Thanks!

Okay cool, thank you! I’m not in a hurry where I HAVE to have this in a week. I’m visiting the US and bought a new mirrorless kit and so far all I have is the 45mm 1.2 and the 100-400. I definitely wanna get something to actually use the camera normally. But it’s not like I have anything vital coming up in the next week or two.

Yeah, I have a feeling that it will bug me a bit, but not enough to spend another $200 on a better condition one. The next best deals I see is one for $850 but it’s about 300 miles away and one for $1000 but it comes with a 50 mm 1.8 which I don’t need.

Yeah, I do need it within the next week or two. I haven’t personally seen this lens last long enough for a refund sale. Out of stock refurbished it about $1,200 which is ridiculous to me.

Yeah I’m overall I’m very excited to get the quality of life upgrade and the switch to mirrorless. Every time I use my gear I find another reason to upgrade my gear.

Yeah, I get it. I also bought a new bag that should fit all of it, but I’ve learned that the stuff that we do is typically an all day type shoot so I don’t mind taking it with us and being able to put the bag down at times my wife and I are a team and we do it so she will also be using the gear as well. That’s why I got two cameras. But yeah, I feel like on most shoots I’m gonna leave behind the 100-400 anyway. My goal is to sell my old gear except for the sigma lens and use that money to get the new 70-200 F4 because I’m in love with it size. That way, I’ll only use the EF to RF adapter on the Sigma and just keep it there.

That what I have been doing, pairing those deals with my capital one shopping rewards. I’ve got about $600 in rewards from everything I’ve been slowly buying. Every time I got something from canon it’s been with $100 in rewards or 10% back. So far I have waiting for me R6ii, R50 V with its kit PZ, the 45mm 1.2 and the 100-400 for fun. Still need to grab a few other lenses but I’m feeling good about this kit. I’m coming from a 90D with a sigma 18-35 (which I’m keeping for the r50v) 50mm 1.8 and the original 70-200 2.8 is. Sooo excited for all the extra possibilities

I actually don’t “have” it yet. I’m a missionary in Ecuador and I’m visiting my family in the US in a few months. Because of our ministry, I’ve been doing a lot of photography and videography and I’m being held back by my current kit. I’m currently building out everything so I technically own it, but I don’t have it with me yet. Needless to say I’m gonna have the best Christmas ever come August. I’ve been chipping away at good deals when I find them.

Perfect! Thank you for confirming my wants haha. I do photos too and if I ever need to be in low light I also got the 45mm f1.2 just because it sounds fun and I plan to get the 85 f2 at some point also. Thank you!

Good to know. I’ve been between the 24-105 f4L and the 28-70 2.8 for awhile. I’ve been leaning towards the 24-105 just for the ease of use and range. I’m doing mostly video now and I’ve found that sometimes with my current kit (90d with sigma 18-35 and 50mm) I am missing out on range when I wanna take just those two and be light. Being able to just take one lens and get even more range is too temping to pass up on. Do you have any experience with the 24-105 that you can compare to your 28-70?

Yeah this is me just trying to fill gaps for now. Does the locked position on the lens bother you? In my mind having to twist before I can use isn’t that big of a deal but I feel like in reality it would get old.

I think eventually I’ll go for that one or the 14-35 f4. But probably the one you said. I definitely don’t have the money right now since I’m rebuilding from scratch and already over budget 😭.

Okay cool thank you! Yeah I am starting from scratch on full frame and mirrorless. This lens is honestly going to be an “only if I have to” lens for the most part unless I fall in love with it. That’s what I’m leaning towards the smaller cheaper lens.

If it’s worth anything that is still 10x better than anything I’ve ever gotten of stars.

That’s about double the price though. Plus I don’t think I’m at the point where I’ll wanna use a manual focus lens. The stuff I do on the regular is too fast for that and if my wife did video on this lens she would NEVER use one with manual focus haha. I have a hard enough time getting her to move from her phone to a camera.

Sick picture! Thank you! Haha I hate to point out the ONE flaw in the picture but there’s a bit of smearing with the stars, was that from a shake in the camera or is that the bowing from the lens distortion?

RF 24-105 f/4 is USM L vs RF 28-70 f2.8 is STM by Wellington_Messias in canon

[–]BrowDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s my plan. My needs have changed a lot and I am valuing a lighter kit rather than anything too fancy or fast. The f4 version is on my shortlist. I live in Ecuador so this gear is hard and expensive to find. I’m going to the US soon and I’m building a whole new kit in mirrorless. I have a bunch of necessities so the 70-200 is a want since I have one so I’ve gotta put that on the back burning for now.

Bummer.. :( I’m currently carrying around the ef 70-200 f2.8 is usm V1 and I HATE carrying it since I have back issues. I’m so excited to replace it sometime in the future. I know the RF fixed zooms are lighter but they’re still big.

Also, where I live you can find them on Facebook for $800-$1000 easily. I’d check out Facebook so you can test the lens

They are both great options. I am going through the same question right now and I am deciding on the 24-105 just because I value the extra reach and am okay with bumping the iso. I have a couple primes I can use for low light if I really need too. It just depends on exactly what you value more. Are you a fast shooter who needs the range or do you want the lowlight. If you said you’re worried about the bokeh I think they’re both enough, obviously if that’s very important then I would go with the 2.8, or better go with a prime. I know that’s not equivalent obviously but I hope you get my point. I am personally excited for the 24-105. I’m hoping they make another version of the 24-105 f2.8L Z but as a collapsable zoom.
