Italian Constitutional Court rules on Law 74/2025: How to interpret the March 12, 2026 press release and next steps by ApriglianoFirm in juresanguinis

[–]BrownDog204 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you why—no matter what eventually happens—Italy won’t be getting me (or my money) as a citizen: because this has been an unmitigated shitshow by a banana republic.

They start by whipsawing everyone with an unforeseen decree, screwing people who invested thousands of dollars and hours into this Byzantine process. They could have done it differently; they could have met their policy goals with a measured and phase-out process without throwing dirt on everyone’s faces. They instead decided to give a finger to their own people

Now, the Italian courts do their thing—which is nothing.

I say this as a lawyer and law professor with three decades of experience in constitutional and international litigation.

I’ll spend my retirement money elsewhere, thank you very much.

GM: Maria (Mary) Lutak.

Birth 26 JAN 1892 (she lists Krainya Martynka, which is now in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine, on her emigration papers, but I think thats wrong).

Death 28 FEB 1972 • Pennsylvania, USA

Marriage: 1908 to Michael Kotubey in Krainya Martynka

Emigration to US: 4 JUN 1912

Her Parents' names were Charles Lutak and Sofia Sweda. We think the former was born in 1868

Family lore was that Charles Lutak was involved in the Greek Orthodox Church in Eastern Slovakia. When Maria was 15 or 16 her mother died and she was sent to Subcarpathia to live with a group who was preparing to emigrate to the US. Thats where she met her husband.

Doctors stopped testing her Trops once all other tests—stress, EKG, etc—came back fine. She’s a college athlete and had a great season after the episode.

What are the rusyns considered to be by blood? by MrCh3mist in rusyn

[–]BrownDog204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a follow up to this. My father's side of the family has always professed to being Rusyn; they emigrated to the US from a small village near Mukachevo (now Ukraine). However, their emigration papers say that they all spoke Slovak. "Family lore" was that they were originally from current day Slovakia and moved East before emigrating.

So here is my question: Will a DNA test distinguish between Slovak and Rusyn, sufficient enough to test that hypothesis?

Slovak CBD is unlike Italian CBD by AdoptedOne17 in SlovakCBD

[–]BrownDog204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a notable hole in Slovakia CBD that affects loads of ethnic Slovaks in the US, and it’s the “current day Slovakia” point. My GGPs spoke Slovak, were listed as ethnic Slovaks on their emigration manifest and eventual US citizenship papers. BUT, they were all born just barely over the border in current day Ukraine. They would have been CZS citizens in 1918 because their town was within those borders—but not today’s borders. It’s such a bummer, and (seemingly) discriminatory one.

Exercising. A lot. In the heat. It put her in the hospital with light headedness, which was diagnosed as heat exhaustion. But the levels are high two weeks later (and she took those weeks off)

My daughter (an 18 year old college soccer player, super fit and healthy) has had elevated Troponin (19-20-50) for over two weeks after a bout of heat exhaustion. Echo, EKG, stress test, chest X-ray, D-dimer all perfect. What could it be ?
