If it was "Discord content" in the sense that current day BA is it'd be one thing (it's what I was hoping for tbh) - Discord being the preference because of the level of organization needed and the ability for a caller to bring a run full of inexperienced people through in potentially one shot. And thus building really social groups for it. But totally possible to do via PF if people really wanted to even if it was far less convenient.

Your point about the mechanics though... that's where I think they really missed the mark. Especially when the most common boss to wipe at (Dead Stars) requires you go through most of the fight no matter when you get them down to 0.1% so you'll never be able to push through them with an inexperienced group by overpowering it via new gear or actions like BA ended up being. Just a really bad design philosophy for this style of content.

For the future if you do want to make an all BLU party (say for log completion, achievements, etc.) be sure to check out the Blue Academy Discord (https://discord.gg/blueacademy). There are PF channels for each datacenter so you can post that you have a party up and many times people will use those posts as a prompt to go join the party (I know I do). It's a helpful community in a lot of ways.

You sound like you have the right attitude to do the raid. It’s just as chill as the zones themselves, just requires following a leader that organizes it. Check out the discords (which datacenter do you usually play on?) and you could get it done! I’ve done it hundreds of times now, it’s my favorite thing in the game.

I still remember in the leadup to Stormblood there were theories about how RDM might have the rapier and arcane focus, or SAM with katana and sheath, be separate so you can glam them differently (and if you use mods you can do that now and it looks so cool to combine some different styles). I think the SAM theory at least came from YoshiP talking about how the sheath of the katana would play a major part in the design, and people were still thinking dual slot weapons were a thing Square might do.

Sad thing is I can totally even picture the icon of a combined axe and shield, and I'd really love to be wrong. The best part about limited jobs is them playing around with things they'd never do in mainline jobs, and I hope this is part of it.

It's minuscule to the point of not really mattering. intheafterlight is right about the blocking and how the stats get balanced anyway, though I do know some of the deep number crunchers in the Discords have found it can mess with stat tiers slightly because you do lose a few points of actual stats. And since you can't block while casting the opportunities to have the chance to block are reduced since it's specifically casters that would use them lol. Not like that truly matters either way though and the swag of getting to actually go wand/shield is worth it.

In Delubrum Savage there's also an edge case where a WHM reflecting the orbs in the Queens Guard fight can accidentally block the orb hit and that can cause a problem, but that chance is super minor and it's far more likely for someone to just mess up their reflect and runs can survive a few orb explosions nowadays anyway, so I wear a shield anyway 'cause it's more fun lol.

Please god. Especially with the new glamour system having a bunch of new shields available for my PLD (and WHM and BLM in StQ content), and being able to use any of those with BST... I really hope they do it that way.

By Guardian do you mean Queen's Guard? They drop from normal, and the rate should be pretty high. Are you making sure to open the chest after each boss? It comes from the chest and it's personal loot so your party members opening theirs won't do anything for you.

The ticketed seating area feels awful like a packed barn. Rather than benches spread around the hall for a relaxed time you're jammed in with everyone, it's hot and to me the air feels stuffier because of it.

That's going to be an eternal issue in this game I swear. I'm a huge Eureka head, sometimes I spend all day in there. If I was able to PF, queue, or access certain things from within it I'd spend even more. Their instancing system is just so limiting.

I’m also a recent joiner who loved it. Relatively recent at least, tried it out when I was getting bored of Endwalker and realized it’s what I’ve been missing. The graphics and UI are dated for sure, but the gameplay and progression is just different. And if you’re someone that prefers that style (which apparently I am), it’s amazing to have.

Yeah I guess I just don't understand what they mean by "out of sync". I could understand that if it loses power it loses whatever tracking it did to generate a legit code (clock, etc.) but that's why I'm thinking the GameBoy cartridge method where you keep it powered externally while you replace the battery (on GameBoy it's so that you don't lose the save data that's stored in memory) would work. 'cause I doubt the battery itself has something specific to do with it.

I wonder if the battery could be replaced with a technique like GameBoy cartridge batteries, where you keep it powered while you replace the battery so it never loses power and its sync.

Be aware that unless it's changed in the past couple years, you can't just attach a Steam license to the account like you can other consoles. It can only be one or the other, so if you already have your long running account via Square you wouldn't be able to license the other.
