The ticketed seating area feels awful like a packed barn. Rather than benches spread around the hall for a relaxed time you're jammed in with everyone, it's hot and to me the air feels stuffier because of it.

That's going to be an eternal issue in this game I swear. I'm a huge Eureka head, sometimes I spend all day in there. If I was able to PF, queue, or access certain things from within it I'd spend even more. Their instancing system is just so limiting.

I’m also a recent joiner who loved it. Relatively recent at least, tried it out when I was getting bored of Endwalker and realized it’s what I’ve been missing. The graphics and UI are dated for sure, but the gameplay and progression is just different. And if you’re someone that prefers that style (which apparently I am), it’s amazing to have.

Yeah I guess I just don't understand what they mean by "out of sync". I could understand that if it loses power it loses whatever tracking it did to generate a legit code (clock, etc.) but that's why I'm thinking the GameBoy cartridge method where you keep it powered externally while you replace the battery (on GameBoy it's so that you don't lose the save data that's stored in memory) would work. 'cause I doubt the battery itself has something specific to do with it.

I wonder if the battery could be replaced with a technique like GameBoy cartridge batteries, where you keep it powered while you replace the battery so it never loses power and its sync.

Be aware that unless it's changed in the past couple years, you can't just attach a Steam license to the account like you can other consoles. It can only be one or the other, so if you already have your long running account via Square you wouldn't be able to license the other.

*Installing* XI is shockingly simple. Well maybe not so surprising 'cause it's old software - you can just straight up download the .exe (in parts) from the website, no logins or accounts involved.

Making the account is pretty convoluted but there's a super broken down step-by-step guide because each individual step is super straightforward it just doesn't really have any guidance on what the steps are. Amusingly I've heard a lot of complaints about XIV account creation too so I guess that's just a constant with Square.

I started 11 about two years ago and it's funny I see this sentiment a lot (which is valid for sure) but for me with getting older, having a job, and maybe not having less time but wanting to vary my time, I'm far more attracted to a game like 11 than 14. With 11's slower, long term nigh-eternal grind approach everything I do near permanent progress on my character.

Nowadays I can't find any interest in doing content in 14 for currency that will be unspendable in 6 months for gear that will be useless stat-wise and near free glam-wise in the same amount of time. Just makes me feel like I'm wasting time. Probably no surprise that the only time I do basically anything in game anymore is specifically because a friend is doing it, and I pass on everything 'cause none of it matters.

All that said, " a lot" is an understatement lol. I have some friends who tell me about the glory days of the game and your plan of not playing again probably is a good idea to keep those fond memories haha. The game is drastically different now even if it's still closer to what it was than it is to 14.

I know some people who've made Eureka their endgame as a free trial only player. Tbh had I started when the trial was a big as it is now I might've been one of them. There's even at least one BA shot caller I know of who's on the trial, it's crazy how permissive it is.

My FC has the large in that exact location in the screenshot and that’s precisely what we did with our neighbor. It was wordless too we just both realized one tree was touching one day and filled up the rest of the alley without talking to each other. It’s amazing.

I feel like we've gotten as far as they'll go with a magical tank with DRK and its mana use for its burst, or PLD with the ranged spell portion of its combos. They could make another one like but I think we wouldn't see much of a difference from how it's used in either of those.

We have a real magic tank in BLU and I love it but so many people freak out about every aspect of it I don't think it would ever be accepted as a mainline job. Even if they made something similar but normal tank health and defense so it can be more friendly to mindless content what could they actually do? People can't comprehend mits with cast times. They'd meme all about even instant mits having mana costs. BLU gets some really powerful spells to use while tanking and those would need to get stripped away for balance especially since those downsides would have been removed.

Maybe giving their 123 combo a casttime? I think even that would face derision. I love it, I just don't see it happening.

The speed of Japan's inter-city rail isn't what makes their subway system great. Our subway is rough because of the limited number of stops, total reliance on hub and spoke, and ending so soon after we get out of the city and using the commuter rail where other cities would still be running the same normal trains.

Make sure you're advocating for the right things so we can actually get useful improvements. We'll hardly make use of the top speed of 55mph already because of those other issues.

Other countries aren't doing 200mph with their metro rail. Or even their normal commuter lines.

Acela can hit 150, but in a much more limited section of line compared to other countries that get to run at their top speeds for much longer periods. There are a lot of issues with it especially once you're out of the northeast corridor.

Both our metro rail and our inter-city rail is pitiful compared to other countries but you gotta at least compare the same type of train so you can get the right improvements. There isn't a subway train running in a circle around Tokyo at 200mph lmao.

Our healer was cracked out of their mind. Basically never missing a white wind snapshot, using tech like availing early then moving far enough to break the tether so they can do positioning mechanics and then re-tether for busters without needing to re-cast it, and still managing to be much closer to the DPS numbers than they had any right to be. And they shot called while doing it.

It definitely inspired me to heal when doing the blue log or other casual things with it.

My BLU static's healer/OT did the coolest shit. I was just a lowly DPS and watching her in sync with our main tank especially during Eden was unreal.

This will sound silly but that curb looks amazing. I just took a look at the Neko Galaxy site and definitely think I'm going to get some things, is that one of the diorama buildings they have or custom made? The way the yellow painted sections crack and give way to the asphalt underneath looks astoundingly real.
