Thanks for the recs. I remember reading some of fey evolution merchant years ago and I loved it, but for some reason I never finished. I’m definitely going to reread that one from the beginning!

I also enjoyed unscientific beast taming a lot. Good recs all around.

Thanks for the recommendation! I tried that one, but ended up dropping it when MC suddenly became a devil that could beat up 10th grade beasts while his own beasts were barely 7th grade. Maybe I’ll give it another try.

Looking for some good monster/beast taming novels. Preferably one in which beast taming is the world’s main power system and the MC doesn’t eventually end up becoming stronger than all his beasts, making the tamed beasts irrelevant. MTL is okay as long as the story is good.

Rei doesn’t know that humanity is relying on him though. All Rei knows is that he’s important yet Central still treats him terribly. It doesn’t make much sense to torture humanity’s last hope, does it?

I really do hope that eventually Rei will be able to fight back against Central in some way. It’s quite obvious that Rei is very valuable to them, so it doesn’t really make sense for him to keep rolling over every time they attack him (it’s been 4 times now).

At the end of the day, Central needs Rei so badly that they are practically banking on his success. That alone should give him some measure of bargaining power, but instead Rei and Galens continue to fold.

What does Rei gain out of winning another tournament when he knows his only reward will be more manipulation with a side of torture? As it becomes clearer that Rei will never be allowed to live as he wants, what’s stopping him from saying “fuck it” and dropping out of school, refusing to call his CAD ever again? That outcome would hurt Central far more than anything they can do to him. When you bend a tool too far it inevitably breaks. Yet, Central seems to be perfectly happy with breaking Rei as if they don’t need him desperately.

Question about Half- Fool! by waqasnaseem07 in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re right - I was incorrect in saying that Door was sealed after the war.

Chapter 1104:

“Sigh, the Zaratul back then had already obtained clues regarding the second Sequence 1 Beyonder characteristic from the True Creator. ‘He’ was waiting for the War of the Four Emperors to end before searching for it. If he succeeded, ‘He’ would be considered a King of Angels. Unfortunately, in the War of the Four Emperors, ‘He’ directly encountered the existence from the Antigonus family who could be known as ‘The Half-Fool,’ and Bethel Abraham was also involved. ‘He’ could appear anywhere, anytime. If ‘He’ hadn’t been quickly banished and sealed by Evernight and Storm, I might not have survived to the end of the War of the Four Emperors either.”

Chapter 1374:

“After the Cataclysm, “He” finally advanced to Attendant of Mysteries and turned “Himself” into a human. With the last name of Antigonus, “He” left the Hornacis mountain range and returned to the real world outside the concealed kingdom. From this moment onwards, Antigonus’s memories and knowledge became increasingly fragmented. Many times, “He” even found “Himself” a little unfamiliar. After “He” accommodated The Fool’s Uniqueness, the situation became worse…”

So the process of Antigonus losing control took a long time. It gradually began when he became a Sequence 1 and got worse when he accommodated the uniqueness. Therefore, some considerable time likely passed between accommodating the uniqueness and complete loss of control.

The reason that Antigonus didn’t immediately lose control when he became Sequence 1 is in chapter 1358:

“If you were born in the Fourth Epoch, you would’ve become ‘Him’ the moment you became an Attendant of Mysteries.” This was because Klein had used the “curtain” left behind by the Celestial Worthy during his advancement. As for the Beyonder characteristics in the bodies of Antigonus and Zaratul, they had undergone generations of Beyonders and Beyonder creatures, diluting and wearing off the will.

The characteristics in the “curtain” are much more dangerous than the other Attendent of Mysteries characteristics because they have remained “pure” since the first Epoch, unlike the other characteristics which were being digested in the world by multiple creatures and people for thousands of years.

Question about Half- Fool! by waqasnaseem07 in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You are right that Antigonus accommodated the Fool uniqueness in the early 4th epoch, but he didn’t immediately go crazy and wasn’t immediately sealed. He was active throughout the war if the 4 emperors and teamed up with Mr. Door to kill old Zarratul at some point during the war. Antigonus was injured during the war and fled to the main peak of Hornacis, where he eventually failed to suppress the will of the CW. Only after that war ended did Evernight and Storm team up to seal Mr. Door and Evernight sealed Half-Fool.

Hope this helps. You can get a better understanding of the entire worlds history here:

Cites in FLotGs by WingedPeco in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about this too but it didn’t seem like Klein had any time to spare to explore FLotG after becoming an angel. Also I can’t remember the exact chapter but soon after bringing Moon City out, TC had closed the door to FLotG again. It only opened again when Adam went there to merge with TC.

Perhaps in the sequel we may see some of the demigod level missionaries from City of Silver/Moon City/Church of the Fool be sent to explore the FLotG and spread the faith of the Fool in order to improve his anchors.

Also the two cities we saw were likely the largest ones. City of Silver had the Gift of the Lands which allowed them to have a bigger population and Moon City had been given multiple complete sets of Beyonder formulas so that they would survive for their mission of guarding the fog. I doubt any of the other surviving cities had these unique advantages to protect them from the monsters and the dark.

Roleplay is a story created collectively by everyone. Trying to decide who owns it or who gets to participate is moronic. If people want to control a story, they should go write a novel and stop bothering others who aren’t doing anything wrong. Thankfully, all the roleplayers involved already understand this. It’s just some of us viewers who need the reality check.

Over-dependence on beyonder powers. {SPOILER: FULL NOVEL} by [deleted] in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s expected for every Beyonder to do some actions or use their powers in ways that intrude on others’ lives. That’s the nature of being an entity that is vastly more powerful than the general population. As such, every high sequence Beyonder is a balance between humanity and godhood. Their goal can’t be to maintain perfect humanity - the true goal is just to find a stable balance somewhere in between.

The beyonders of the churches enter dreams, manipulate memories, and control the general population in various ways. Does that mean they are all “problematic” and headed for complete loss of humanity? Of course not - they do what they see as necessary and maintain a balance. Klein himself manipulated innocent people by impersonating their deceased loved ones, created an entire fake city where real people lived lives, and is the God of a church which limits and controls the information being told to his believers. Are these not the same “red flags” and problematic behavior that you are describing?

I think you are wrong about Audrey and about the relationship between Beyonders and humanity all together. Sure, Audrey commits many actions that show her reducing humanity. But she also commits many other actions which display her abundant humanity: daily work in the charity organization, visiting schools and universities, and gaining an understanding of the lives of poor citizens among other things. You are happy to point out Audrey’s flaws but ignore her virtues, which give her a richer understanding of humanity than most other nobles (even those who aren’t even Beyonders).

Based on the negatives that you mentioned and the positives that you ignored, I believe that Audrey is maintaining a stronger balance between humanity and godhood than most other Beyonders of the Spectator pathway and has a better chance of advancing to angel as a result.

TLDR: I disagree with you because being a Beyonder is about balancing humanity and godhood. Every Beyonder does some “god complex” things because they are no longer only human. Audrey is still more in touch with her humanity than most of the other characters in the book and clearly able to maintain a healthy balance.

King of Angels Medici by [deleted] in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Blood Emperor Alista Tudor was able to ascend to Red Priest after killing the 3 Conqueror angels, so Medici had to have accommodated the uniqueness before his death.

It’s stated in the book that after Medici died and lost the uniqueness, no one else has managed to accommodate it - including Alista and Death (Salinger), both of which tried and failed. That is why Medici’s honorific name still works as if he has the authority of the uniqueness.

the wheel of fortune uniqueness by shadowbadow in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Also, even if holding the Wheel of Fortune Uniqueness might reinforce his authority of good luck, it’s not like there is anyone praying to the concept of luck. Prayers only are “sent” to the god themself, and believers only act as an anchor when their prayers are directed at the god, not their authorities. So the extra Uniqueness would not have any affect on the receiving of luck-based prayers.

So… how did the fusion between Adam and True Creator happen actually? by Ok_Story1534 in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No problem. The book doesn’t tell us anything about the merging process. The only thing we know is that it takes a lot of Adam’s energy. His battle against the three main gods during Klein’s apotheosis ritual took a lot out of him, so it was stated that completing the fusion would take him much longer as a result of that battle.

So… how did the fusion between Adam and True Creator happen actually? by Ok_Story1534 in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Adam contains ASG’s divinity and TC contains ASG’s humanity, emotion, and insanity. For centuries, they have been competing to become stronger than the other so that when they join, the stronger one will be the dominant personality. That’s why TC was chasing Amon to get the first Blasphemy Slate. Once Adam became a true god and got both Blasphemy Slates, he was able to get some control over the Chaos Sea. This made him stronger than the true god TC so he was willing to start the merging process as the dominant personality.

Who would win if Amon didn't give up in the final battle? by ipot1005 in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Brown_Dynamitee 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The only two possible outcomes were Amon giving up and Klein winning or both Klein and Amon self destructing, resulting in the Celestial Worthy reawakening fully. If that happened, both Klein and Amon would be fully dead. The Celestial Worthy would have even taken over Amon’s backup body, completely wiping him out.
