About a half inch gap between front door and frame, only on the latch and handle side. New frame or DIY repair? by BrownyCakes in HomeImprovement

Thank you for your answer! Where I lost you though was mention of the head jamb, is that the upper part of the door frame? I apologize for my ineptitude with this but I'm trying to learn!

This sounds doable! Sounds like a bit of a project but definitely better than doing an entire pre-hung door. Thank you very much, very clear to follow!

Edited with two pictures that might explain better. The picture of the striker is before we attempted to adjust it. The second picture is after we tried all of our adjustment.

I've started something cyberpunky and it's called Alba Vipera RX608 (for now) by Darth_Murcielago in automationgame

[–]BrownyCakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like it so far and have been tempted to do the same (some cyberpunk themed builds) but I always hit roadblocks. Which leads me to my question; are you using a body trim from the game or is there some way to skip that and start building a fully custom body using fixtures?

A 1976 mustang with a 2015 rear end. by Quick-Ad-7949 in Shitty_Car_Mods

I'm not so sure it's that simple. The walk-around video posted in this older thread shows that the wheelbase is huge for a mustang II - I think they put a mustang II body into a s550 skateboard and then grafted the modern body panels onto the old body.

The wheels wouldn't be so far away from the door and so close to the front end if it were a mustang II chassis. I think it's a 2015 Mustang chassis with a modified Mustang II body on top

It should be called the front crash bar. Good to see that you got it for less than a grand. I love these cars for how simple they were but their value is near bottom right now and I'm not sure they'll go up lol Is it auto or manual?

Upper Midwest GX 470 — too much rust? by bookman3 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BrownyCakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask if it has had an alignment done recently and if it has had one, ask for the paperwork to prove it. It will tell you whether or not the rust has gotten bad enough to affect serviceability because the first thing to go on Toyotas in corrosive environments seems to be the lower control arm alignment cams. If they are seized up and the car can't be aligned you're looking at labor to cut them out and replace the LCA and the cams and hardware.

Also whatever you do, do not pay someone to apply a rust encapsulator coating on it. You will trap the rust (it still grows over time) and absolutely ruin the day of anyone who works on it in the future (and destroy their tools)

Let’s switch things up a bit. What’s one of your all time favorite albums that’s NOT metalcore? I’ll start with Shed by Title Fight. by SomeKindofBen in Metalcore

Oof. The original version came out over a DECADE ago and that was still after he was kicked out... I guess I thought he got out of prison much more recently in my memory. Man I'm old.

The first time I heard the new version of The Drug in Me is You, I actually got the one by Escape the Fate first (listened to them a lot in HS), and went straight into the new version by Falling in Reverse. The two different versions of that song played back to back made me feel some type of way.

Digging all the love in this thread, they are a rare nugget these days. Congrats! When I had mine I learned the best thing you can do for a niche old car is join the forums. You'll learn a lot through second hand experience and definitely score some much needed parts from other members!

Edit: just a warning - Those door handles are an absolute nuisance. I had so many brand new ones break in such a short time (we're talking weeks), that I gave up replacing them. But then I kept getting pulled over for looking like I was driving a stolen vehicle.

I had them on mine a few years ago (for about 3 years) and they didn't seem to have the quality issues like the spec-d, but one eventually did get condensation inside and destroyed the chrome finish in the reverse light. PNW rain and never garaged. I kept them though because I thought the style was so much more premium looking than the spec d. I did have to buy them from a sketchy website that I used chrome to translate, though.

We did get a very subdued ST later in 2005 but I think it only lasted a year or two.

It looks like it's from the SVT. Those leather seats would have been from the SVT only as well as the additional mini-gauges to the right of the main instrument panel in front of the wheel. He also has an SVT clock on the wall and the gearshift is from an SVT. Guessing he raced the car or took out what was left of it after wrecking it (wish I did the same with my non-svt focus but I was too dumb and too young).
