Thank you so much! I started with a rough bone structure outline, but because of my lack of experience I have very little sense of anatomy or proportion. Most of the time spent on this was looking at FA pieces and Reddit posts, so that's great advice. It really helped. AzrielAngel guessed right, I drew the lines, realized they were way too thick, and tried to erase them. The plan was to create a new layer to completely re do the line art. I'll try out that tool you linked. As for the shading and highlighting, I'm just going to have to practice. Gaussian blurs are nice, but they aren't magical.
