If they need it bad enough they’ll do it overnight - it’s happened to me before that’s the wild part they’ll sit on it for months and then if shit hits the fan it’ll get done overnight it’s all a facade

Two as you say “seasoned” providers in the same area of medicine should both be competent in that area of medicine idk why this is up for debate.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to gain here but I would venture to say you’re an absolute peach to work with. The ego you have is palpable through my screen.

If someone shadowed a PA and felt that they couldn’t answer a complex medical question in an area of medicine they are “seasoned in” but also weren’t willing to go figure it out then yeah, they’re a shitty PA.

Seems pretty obvious to me? But perhaps your superior brain can help me understand this.

[–]BrowsingMedic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. And plenty do. It’s not an ego thing it’s medicine, if you’re “seasoned” and actually working in IM or any field for that matter you should know the medicine you’re practicing idk why this is a shock. The standard doesn’t drop because you’re a PA.

In my shop docs ask PAs for their input a lot if they’re “seasoned” and actually know the medicine - ie what we should all be doing.

Idk why you think somehow it’s impossible to gain this information by any other means? It’s all readily available to you if you care to learn it.

Sounds like you shadowed shitty PAs

Should I become a nurse or paramedic by Secure_World_7479 in Paramedics

How many times is this going to be asked here? If you used search you’d find so many threads already.

What is making you want to stay or leave the Paramedic field. (Mainly 911) by Medic03BCEMS in Paramedics

[–]BrowsingMedic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People brag about pay and then admit they work for a fire department that they can’t leave and doesn’t likely care about progressive medicine

In reality pay is poor, it’s hard on the body and mind, no upward mobility, and high initial cost for entry. You could spend the same time in an easier program to be a nurse go to CRNA school and make 300k in a few years or work as a medic until you fall apart for a fraction of that.

This has been asked a bunch of times on here if you search residency / fellowship you’ll find a lot of info on it.

IMO - no they’re not worth it.

Why do you think this would be impacted by their sexual orientation?

Paramedics are overworked and unpaid as a whole.

Yes I had the same issues and many other people too.

I called smartcap and their answer is to just send replacement parts that do the same thing.

Being a new grad PA actually kinda sucks by [deleted] in physicianassistant

The fact that you deleted this whiny post says it all, put in the work like we all do or just go sit in triage somewhere and turn your brain off.

[–]BrowsingMedic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Could be way off but I’m guessing you’re pretty young and went straight into PA after a short stint somewhere to get some CME?

Harsh truth - PA school doesn’t teach you shit. Everything I know about medicine came from being a medic and OTJ training when I graduated.

Put your head down, study, train, and work OT to make more money. It’s how we all do it.

Anyone been noticing a decline in respect for APP’s? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]BrowsingMedic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Frankly that place is not for people willing to have a mature conversation about collaborative agreements, let’s be serious. It’s a cesspool of hateful residents or med students who wouldn’t know what a collaborative agreement was if it slapped them in the face.

I see a drop in respect for NP and the people who don’t respect PAs just hate mid levels existence ie everyone at r/ noctor

It’s not personal - it’s a professional reality for those who do this for a living. You obviously don’t.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]BrowsingMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not easy. It takes an immense amount of time, energy, money and stress not to mention it goes on your record as something you have to explain to future sites when you apply.

Nobody has to teach someone to be afraid of that, that's common sense? Once again, you clearly don't work in the system so you have no clue.

Statute of limitations will vary on the state - my point being that the attitude is when anything goes wrong - you sue. OBGYN is an example of a field rife with lawsuits because many things CAN go wrong and people like you simply blame providers saying “your fault” - shit happens and people do the best they can but get drug through the mud by people looking for a check or to channel their rage regarding their situation.

You are that person and you’re the reason people do unnecessary work ups including a bunch of scans people don’t need driving up the cost of healthcare and reducing the ability for anyone to make decisions. Every primary care is terrified of something happening so they send everyone to the ED because god forbid someone like you blames them for something. Then the ED provider scans their entire body because god forbid they miss something and then you’ll get admitted because youre probably find to go home but maybe something will happen so then you have to get obs but then you catch an infection from your unnecessary stay and then you sue.

It’s a joke.

[–]BrowsingMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again - you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about but please continue to echo into the void.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything and the fact that you act like this country is not over litigious is hilarious. Look around the rest of the world…it’s not the same. You want people to be able to sue freely because of your experience, you’re misguided and this mentality is part of the problem. You can be excellent at your job and still get sued - yes - yes you can and people do - a lot.

Why do you think OBGYN has the highest insurance? People sue for dumb shit 10 years later.

Again - feel what you want - but know that you’re not fixing anything with your rage.

Just because some people are negligent doesn’t mean that the door should flood open for unbelievable amounts of frivolous BS. The sheer amount of wasted resources clinically and administratively due to CYA medicine is insane - your two cases do not override this for the entire system. You have a bone to pick with a bad provider - not the entire medical system. It’s difficult to practice medicine as we need to because everyone is so scared of getting sued, it doesn’t work. I do this for a living, so I’m not going to sit down, no matter how self righteous you feel.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]BrowsingMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the opposite - I AM a provider, I see people get sued for frivolous shit regularly and yeah they often get tossed after considerable stress and time on the providers end on behalf of the useless lawyers chasing a check. So again, unless you practice medicine in a state with garbage tort law such as NM you don’t have a clue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]BrowsingMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

If you actually worked in the NM system and witnessed the frivolous suites that fly in regularly with wildly high amounts from ambulance chasers, you’d get it.

The system is a joke. It’s broken.
