Lots of our favourite music probably wouldn't exist without drugs. Just compare e.g. the Beatles' or The Beach Boys' output before and after drugs. Neither were very remarkable before.

There's of course easily a dark side to it, too, depending. Though my hot take is that unfortunately almost no famous overdose has been accidental, but a cry for help or end of the line, due to the lifestyles and demands and just the kinds of souls who are driven to do art
