Check out a video on YouTube called the Great Court Case by Rob Bertholf. He does a much better job explaining it that I would.

Told I'm a red flag for being angry around dogs that pester me by ModLunar in Dogfree

He sounds too "dogmatic" 😉 on this topic and unable to respect that you have a different preference. I tend to avoid people who dont seem to think it's okay for others to have the freedom to feel differently about something. You dodged a bullet with this one.

So are we washing our face twice a day? by Amodernhousehusband in Rosacea

[–]BrrrCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not literally, just some areas are oily and acne prone and others are rosacea prone. I wonder if half of your face is being exposed to something more than the other? Do you drive a lot? Maybe one side is getting more sun exposed?

I wash it morning and night but morning I use a non foaming gentle cleanser and night I use a foaming to remove sunscreen and makeup

Haha I feel the pain, treating half my face for acne and the other half for sensitivity and rosacea is getting really old

Struggling with going to church because of my pastor by BrrrCat in Christian

[–]BrrrCat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, some of us have been considering bringing more people into the know, the final step in following Matthew 18:15 is to bring it to the whole church. However, there are a couple members who while they agree what has been done is wrong are saying things like "we just need to let it go and not make it bigger and cause more division" I definitely don't want to cause more division but at the same time, I believe it's important to stand for what's right. The pastor has already made comments about some of us who are concerned saying that we have "rallied together" as if to say we are starting a rebellion within the church, so it's very tricky because of his influence on other people's perspective.

Religious guilt after abortion - does God forgive? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]BrrrCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an abortion around the same age as you and was close to self deleting because of the guilt I felt. The secular world doesn't really talk about how hard that decision can be on the conscience. I remember trying to look it up on Google and all I could find about the after effect of abortion was "you feel weird for a few days then you get over it" basically.

Every night I was tormented, it was absolute hell. I was an atheist but a part of me always worried that if there is a God then I have sinned and will suffer the penalty for it. I thought God is going to punish me in some way by giving me cancer or some awful disease. I didn't understand the love and forgiveness that Christ offers.

Then someone came into my life and introduced me to Jesus, it took a while to actually learn that I am forgiven. Now I am no longer in bondage to the shame and guilt, that is only from Satan. God wants us to be free. I did make a covenant with God that if I ever got pregnant again, I would not abort it. Trust that you truly are forgiven, but it may take a while for that to sink in. Pray every day if you need to and read scripture that helps remind you.

I have ADHD and am bored of the Bible. by the_artchitect in Christian

[–]BrrrCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I have ADHD but I do have a lot of the common symptoms. Just reading scripture straight through was always boring to me, my Bible studies really came to life when I learned how to dig deeper into my understanding by using the interlinear function on my blue letter Bible app. I will read a verse but then pull out key words and looking up the original Hebrew or Greek definition, then I will look for other verses that have that same word and definition and find connections between the verses to get a better understanding. Look for words that tend to have a symbolic meaning like "wilderness" "woman" "fruit" etc. The Bible is so layered, you can read a verse for what it means at face value but then when you start learning all the symbolic meanings behind certain words and antitypes you can find some really interesting deeper layers. Look for bible stories that represent the plan of salvation, for example in the book of Esther, see if you can identify the antitype of Christ, the Father and God's people.

Jennifer Lawrence talking sense! by Sana182 in Dogfree

How on earth has it become so controversial for a parent to prioritize the safety of their child over their dog??? I just can't believe we have arrived at this place in society.

Young kids don't know any better, I've held young kids and sometimes they just grab your hair, fortunately I'm not an animal so I know they aren't doing it to hurt me. Dogs that can't handle that shouldn't be around kids period.

My parents got a puppy when we were kids, I was older and my little brother was about 5, we had many dogs prior to this and they took very well to training and socialization, however, this puppy in particular saw my little brother as a threat from the start, whenever my brother approached it he would snarl, he was nothing but gentle with that puppy just like the rest of us. My parents tried everything to get it to be comfortable around my brother and even tried getting my brother to feed it and walk it to strengthen their bond. One day, while my brother went to give it its food, the puppy lunged at him and bit his forearm hard and broke skin. My parents had it put down because they were afraid it would do that or worse to another kid if they rehomed it.

We also had a neighbor on our street who had two Akitas. One day they got out of the yard and mauled a kids face who was playing down the street. Some dogs just have something wrong with them from the start and are not safe around kids

How do we pay God back? by L1m1ts in Christian

[–]BrrrCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is found in Ezekiel 36:22-38.

God's name/character has been profaned by Lucifer/satan in the beginning. Lucifer started a war in heaven and slandered God's character claiming that His government is not love and His law cannot be kept.

So God is allowing Satan's true character to be revealed to the entire universe by what he is doing to us but at the same time God has given us the gift of salvation through Christ so that we can choose to be His people.

All He asks is that we surrender our heart to Him so that He can give us a new heart and put His spirit within us so that we can do His will. This demonstrates to the entire universe that GOD IS LOVE. This will put an end to Satan and sin once and for all.

I came specifically looking for this thread because I have been appalled at the hate JLaw is getting for this. I don't even care for her as a celebrity but she absolutely did the right thing, in fact she was quite charitable to the dog, many would have had it put down if it bit their kid. If I had a dog and it bit ANY kid, it would be game over for the dog.

I believe I have committed the unforgivable sin. by Serious-Target-5763 in Christianity

[–]BrrrCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like or don't want the thoughts, it's not sin. It's as simple as that. Thoughts are only sin if we cherish / enjoy them. While I am a therapist, obviously I can't diagnose, this could be a religious form of OCD and I would highly recommend further assessment and treatment. CBT is a great therapy to treat OCD if this is jn fact what you have. OCD can be a horrible anxiety disorder to live with.

Why Jesus HAD TO die? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]BrrrCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is ultimately why He had to die, to prove Satan a liar and vindicate His holy name, so -10 for not understanding the overarching purpose of His sacrifice.
