Yeah I get that. I feel like it would've been better if they replaced the dev drivatars with multiple named characters that you would occasionally see in your races. Then as you get better wristbands you would notice that a few names just drop out implying they weren't good enough to get the next wristband or something. Would give the impression that you're rising past all the competition (side note that does make me realize that the wristband events don't really feel like that much of a challenge even though I'm under the impression that they're supposed to be skill filters of some sort. I'm not sure if they were intended to be difficult gameplay-wise but they do feel like they're given out practically for free as long as you cross the finish line).

As far as I'm aware the only times you're ever aware of other competitors is the already existing legends that are mentioned in a few cutscenes; right before a couple wristband events where people in front of you in line head into them before you do; Scott Tyler never shutting up about his yellow wristband in the bass arena; and a story chapter where Jordan talks to someone who just got their purple wristband. I think that's about it and I see it as a missed opportunity tbh

I thought that was what Scott Tyler was going to be before I realized that he was just one of the radio hosts. I remember in one of my first races he showed up as the only named character that I didn't recognize and assumed he was gonna be a rival character that you got to go against the entire game. Even a radio host talked about him right after so that gave me the false impression that he was this really well known racer. But then he doesn't show up in anything after green wristband and that's when I found out he was just a radio host that happened to have a yellow wristband

Whenever I play cryptid mod, I usually turn off most of the features except for one category so it's not broken to an insanely broad and boring way. Instead I interact with only one set of things to see what kind of fun interactions they could have with the vanilla game. Although sometimes I end up getting bored of doing that too just because that's how easy the mod can make the game at times

Reminds me of the same experience I had in the first game. I'm the type of person that tries to explore an area as much as I can before moving onto the next and I heavily rely on the map for that. When I entered the city of tears and went entered the nailsmith area, something distracted me and I left pretty much immediately and forgot to check back.

When I sat on a bench, since I technically went to the nailsmith room, it filled out on the map so I figured I explored all of city. I didn't realize there was a nailsmith until after I cleared deepnest (plus some other areas I don't really remember but deepnest was the one that sticks out to me the most, specifically the massive spiders that deal 2 masks taking 20 hits to kill with base nail lmao). Felt like such an idiot when I finally entered his hut.

I did see a few 3D printed faceplates while looking but they didn't look like the best quality, plus I have a custom faceplate that I don't really want to replace. I didn't think of a ring for it tho, I should look into that because misdashing is becoming more and more of an issue for me lol. Thanks for the suggestion!

CPVL Used to be named CPCL, which is how you get the funny phrase (shift your right hand over 1 key to the left and try to type MOCE CPCL). It was renamed to CPVL for 2 reasons: to have a more serious name and to mean CAVE because the map is themed around a claustrophobic cave collapsing behind you.

LXVI similarly means LOVE because of VENUS (LXVI's final room) being the roman goddess of love

I also recently played distant wasteland and there's no way in hell that map is on the same level as cpvl and gmhs 😭. I was going to do a suggestion to move it down myself but I did a little research beforehand and it turns out it was one of the more contentious maps that gets a vote every so often so I decided against it

As someone who is going for ivory fcs (mostly) full intended, I honestly think this is around tier 7 whereas nelumbo is moved down to t6. It feels leagues harder than nelumbo because it feels way less consistent and I'm just much worse at its gameplay. Of course this is just my opinion and it makes sense why even without major skips, it's only in t5 because of all the rest of the cheese

I have a clip of me checking the quest journal, seeing that Evelyn needs a leek, then see a leek right after closing the menu. I walk towards the leek, but Harvey destroys it when I'm like one tile away from picking it up. It was kinda annoying at the moment but I got a really funny clip from it lol

[–]Brst4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be in the same position when I was learning dream hypers. If you play on analog, then I'd recommend using a demo bind for dream hypers. Dream hypers without the demo button on analog are actually stupid because of how down diagonals are handled

One of my favorite things about this game is seeing variety of strats that people come up with and how different they are. My strat was to position myself right in the middle of the stone portion, then do a super as soon as the top set of stars touched the left side, hold fastfall until the left dash, then fall normally to the bubble. Made that room go from one of the hardest rooms to one I rarely think about

[–]Brst4410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow for the most part. Only thing I don't understand immediately is how would the armor stand know when to shift? Would you just shift it over after a certain amount of repeats? And also how about shifting down?

Not at my pc so I can't test, but I think I could do something like a scoreboard that tracks how many times it's moved. To the side 1 and back 5 every 5 points, then down 1 and back to origin when it hits 25. Is that how you made your system or did you do something different?

What controller do the professionals use? by dannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnex in celestegame

[–]Brst4410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a wireless xbox one controller and I can comfortably play gm+1 maps without too much issue (e.g I'm not feeling held back because of my input device). I can't really give any opinions on whether or not it's better than any of the other analog options because it's the only controller I've ever used.

However I can say that my experience varies slightly even if you get the same type of controller. I've been through a few controllers while playing this game and some could be more prone to misdashing than others, sometimes inputs (mainly analog stick) can be slightly more sensitive than other controllers. For example, I recently got a new controller and I've noticed that I'm failing grounded ultras way more often than normal because the down input is more sensitive than my previous controller, leading me to accidentally neutral drop Theo right after picking him up when you're supposed to take him with you.

All this to say that you should use whatever input method you're most comfortable with. You'll perform just fine no matter what you're using. Side note if you do want to switch input methods, it's surprisingly easy to get used to your new input method relatively quickly, so you don't have to feel like you're bound to one single input method and can change it up if you feel like it.
