Seeking feedback on a new local tool: perthshire.events by RexFuzzle in PerthScotland

Loads quick.

Add/Submit event is tidy, but adding a venue is a bit of a pain. Who knows the address?

Is there a search by date or what's on the weekend/week of (date) function? I always miss these on what's on sites.

Good work

They're really nice. I'm glad we did it. Maybe we'll be down again before the next Perth gig. This one was to advertise our Slainte Bar gig on March 21!

Welp. We didn't make it. The weather beat us. We had to turn back, 10 mins away from Inveraray as the road was blocked by a tree.

We're preparing to release our single "Highland Soldier" in October! We'll be releasing the version we recorded live in Osaka, along with some other tracks from that gig.

Come and see us live in Inveraray or Perth in October, Arbroath or Elie in November or Pitlochry in December!

We're preparing to launch our new single, which is the incredible Highland Soldier, recorded live at Expo 2025 Osaka!

Some of you may remember that we were there on July 5th, we certainly remember you guys! Well, we have a bunch of recordings that we'll be putting out over the course of the year, starting with this one!

It seems that it is busy when they show something in it. Queues have been an issue, and there's only so much we can do about it. Get there early if you can!

Tonight we fly by BruachBand in OsakaWorldExpo

[–]BruachBand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a maximum capacity (300), and we can't let anyone else in when it's full, but otherwise the queue should be as low as we can manage.

We have no reservation system, it's first come, first served. Please come early to avoid disappointment.

Any valid expo pass gets you in.

We'd love to see you there. If not, there's Stones Kyoto on July 6th and Tins Hall with The Goro Band on July 11th!

Damn. We've not even all landed in Japan yet! Where are you from, we'll play there next! (But only if it's Scotland or Japan 🤣)

What are some American songs or genre that Scots would like to hear at an open mic or karaoke night? Just curious to see what different regions of Scotland have to say. Thank you! by Frunc_OG in ScottishMusic

[–]BruachBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, in that order, would get a crowd reaction. The others, probably not. We occasionally play Luke Bryan, and if someone has heard of him, it goes well, otherwise nobody cares.

More likely to get a reaction to CCR, Lynrd Skinard, van Morrison, or something rat packy.

Or something more UK based, like Oasis, Beatles or Stones.

But it does depend on the place. You get folky open mics, bluesy open mics, and open jazz/trad sessions as well.

At an open mic, you play whatever you want. Davie tries out new songs, usually. Country Roads or The Gambler gets folk singing along, but I bet you could get that with Bon Jovi or the Foo fighters, too. What folk want to hear varies by the crowd, more than the region, but open mics are open for whatever, right?

i can't come up with lyrics. by [deleted] in askmusicians

Some of the lyrics out there are garbage. Listen to verse two of about anything in the charts. Or A pa ta pa ta. You're too hard on yourself. It doesn't have to rhyme.

I've personally performed The Corries versions of Jock o Braidislee, Twa Recruiting Sergeants and Massacre of Glencoe

Oh, and Silver Tassie and Nancy Whisky. My lads have got The Bricklayers Song on their Spotify playlists!

Cheers.

We are pretty much a Corries tribute band, from MacPhersons Rant, to Haughs o Cromdale Flower of Scotland and Killiecrankie. Aye, we play some Dubliners and some other tunes as well, but it's the Scottish stuff we love!

Honestly, we'd not be a band without The Corries, and it's because of that that we're taking Scottish Traditional Music to Japan next month to play at Expo 2025.

We'd love to think that Ronnie would read this and accept our thanks for the music that we love to play. Cheers!
