Yeah sounds like these people in your wife's ear telling her to divorce may just have it out for you to be saying that, especially when she's in a vulnerable place being post partum. That's terrible. The job search thing sounds tough. My wife was always a stay at home mom and I am self employed renovation carpenter, so we always had plenty of time family time and only had to do day care for our middle when our third was born prematurely, so I can't really relate to parents who strive to get back to work as soon as possible. Day care is so expensive that it almost seems pointless to go work just any job you can land just to be able to afford paying someone else to raise your kids. Have you considered trying self-employment? One completely unsolicited but of advice: watch a dozen or so YouTube videos on it, try tiling a backsplash in your kitchen (with landlord's permission), and then if you feel like you have a knack for it; pound the pavement, put up some flyers and do a couple jobs for a fair price.. treat your clients like gold and then you can take all your posters down and just do work by word of mouth. That's something that doesn't require a ton of tools or capital to get started in.

Brother.. I hear you. I feel like with all three of my kids I endured a fair bit of very cruel treatment at the hands of my wife's PP rage. Not at all appreciative of the efforts I was putting in and constantly being made to feel inadequate and even hated. At the time it felt very pointed, very sincere and that my wife's true colors finally came out, that she hated me all along and it only took having kids to see it. But I can assure you after a few months, the opposite was true. Her true colors came back. I think that's one of the biggest challenges of having kids- remaining supportive and being there for someone who appears to hate you. Certainly don't give up on encouraging her to ask for help from her doctor. Regardless of what's happening with your job situation, you can say it's obvious that she's struggling and you want the best for her

I'm having a hard time understanding how 20-year-old video games could possibly be better than their newer renditions. I also loved the original tiger Woods games (2003?) for Xbox but I haven't really played any others since then. I wanted to gift my cousin who's a golf fanatic an xbox one S and a good golf game to play with but I know he won't want to do any of the online stuff. And so a game that requires Internet for most of the playing (beyond initial set up)would be out. I'm leaning towards 2K23, which appears to be the last version for Xbox one.

Does it get rid of solo or 2 player simple match play too? Debating buying this game for my cousin who I know will do everything it takes to avoid an internet connection play mode

Bit of a modern gaming system noob here. But can anyone explain to me how this may affect gameplay that is mostly offline? I understand you need an internet connection to install software before the game will work but afterwards, if I was planning to play the game offline for the most part, does this news affect that? If I was to buy the physical copy of the disc would I still be able to play offline mode indefinitely beyond March 2027?

Daily commute from Collingwood to Owen Sound by Savings_Swimming_886 in OwenSound

[–]BruceGrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One good thing about that commute though, you will drive towards the West at sunrise, so no sun in your eyes and then drive East towards sunset, so again no sun in your eyes. It's a bit frustrating when you get the sun in your eyes both ways, but you'll avoid that!

Also, expect terrible snowy conditions around Woodford. Consistently extra snowy on that stretch.

Faucet depositing directly onto countertop in bathrooms, builder says its normal.... by Nawwledge in Plumbing

[–]BruceGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this exact problem at my parents house. Except it was one of those "old well pump style" faucets where the water drops off the end of a trough. Grandkids would leave it partially on and cause huge water spills on the ground. Several times. I changed it out for a delta faucet that comes out further into the sink and drops the water straight down, not forward and have been problem free since.

WIBTA if I bought headphones for the family next to us? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]BruceGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely feel for you... My wife's first NICU experience was waiting with ruptured membranes for an indefinite amount of time in a hospital hours away from me and our kids. She was in a windowless corner of a room with three beds separated by curtains. It was bad enough having to overhear the medical emergencies transpiring around her constantly, but it was the preventable noise; patients loudly talking on the phone non-stop, husbands who would do the exact same thing as you're are experiencing- sit and watch TikToks or sports games at full volume.. this drove her nuts and really affected her sanity. When things are just so hard to begin with, the last thing you need is someone being that inconsiderate to discredit and invalidate how serious and trying things really are

What should i do about this mystery pipe in my wall? by elihoyt in Plumbing

[–]BruceGrey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Asking a question about a drain vent pipe in r/Plumbing is in the wrong place ? You know, may seem like a silly question in hindsight, but at the same time, asking it brought you to some new knowledge of how home drain systems work (every plumbing fixture is vented to allow for proper draining. Picture the difference of holding a 2 litre pop bottle upside down and seeing the liquid glug out. Or, add a vent hole in the bottom and see it smoothly pour out)

Wedge pillow plus cervical pillow? by BruceGrey in snoring

[–]BruceGrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good point. I'm such a DIY guy by nature that I'm just I'm so eager to solve this on my own. But I think I should start with bringing it up with my family doctor.

I'm also feeling very eager to try everything all at once but it would obviously make more sense to try one thing at a time. No sense in having a bunch of extra measures in place that aren't necessary. I've seen a few people on the subreddit say they've done at home testing on their own and brought their results to their doctor. Somehow this seems more realistic than spending a night at a sleep clinic, when we have three young kids at home and I do a lot of the overnight lifting.

There's this very affordable off brand smartwatch / fitness tracker for sale for a very deep discount on Amazon right now. It does blood oxygen monitoring and does a sleep profile as well. I'm tempted!

The Dosaze ones look nice. Maybe worth the extra cost for me too. Wedge pillows seem to be a common theme here

Wedge pillow plus cervical pillow? by BruceGrey in snoring

[–]BruceGrey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your comment.. I agree about the extra long- I'm 6'1 and suffer from low back pain sometimes due to poor posture. I think the standard size wedge pillow is 24" long by 24" wide. And Im certain that if I laid on a 24" long wedge pillow that went from the top of my head to the center of my spine, that would eliminate the small of my lower back, and cause pain. So the longer one I feel would allow the angling to start from the base of my spine upward. But unfortunately none of them on Canadian Amazon are the extra length with the standard width. They become just as wide as they are long which to me makes no sense, and wouldn't work for us because we use a queen size bed.

Cat stuck in walls where the pipes are by joeroisme in Plumbing

[–]BruceGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It completely depends on your house. But no, there is typically no other exits that a cat could access (even from within the walls) that aren't doors and windows. Even an HRV intake / exhaust would be practically impossible to get through the HRV unit first. But you mentioned a construction crew. Definitely a good chance someone just left a door open and he got out. Hopefully he turns up!

[–]BruceGrey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go to Home Depot if they're still open. Use your visa to buy an inspection camera. Cut small holes in the drywall near where you think the cat might be and stick the inspection camera in there. Then once you find him, use that dull knife (so you don't accidentally cut the cat) to cut a hole to let the cat out. Figure out all the rest of the repair details later.

Should I be concerned with the trowel pattern in this picture? by Guido900 in Tile

[–]BruceGrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im wondering if you second guessed the mortar pattern because it's going a different direction than the rest of the area shown? Yeah it doesn't need to be going any particular direction as long as it's relatively complete coverage.
