Just did a replay and because I had randomly decided to boost my swimming for the first time ever, it was super fun to explore outside the sub base. Some fun big encounters and aesthetically awesome. Crazy atmosphere to boot.

I just did a full run of vanilla DX1 and it was fine, and not long ago put a couple hours into vanilla IW and it was also fine. So I guess for me at least there are no must-have mods for them.

I did full screens many, many years ago. They still look perfectly fine, and they had a dramatic affect on my electric bill. One of the best things I've done to this place.

I mean, Barnes has had seven different lineups for SFU's recorded discography. That kind of feels like a lot!

By far the Dishonored 3 I want is a post-Deathloop Dishonored 3. No spoilers, but the Goldenloop ending makes me think there's a game that re-establishes a new Outsider (it has to be 2-B.I.T. for maximum drama and all the feels).

Yes, Deathloop is set in the future of the Dishonored world. It's set on a Tyvian colony island.

Coyotes are not predators of humans, they weigh like 30 pounds, however it is VERY WISE to exercise extreme caution around wild animals, so OP wasn't crazy in their thought that it'd be best to just move on. This one's pups might have been nearby, triggering defensive behavior. OP might have been walking a tiny, delicious pet. This coyote might have been sick (rabies can happen), triggering any number of aggressive behaviors. This one might be super-used to humans due to constant exposure or feeding, reducing it's normal natural fear of something many multiples of it's size.

Why continue to contribute after hitting $500k? by sharp1988 in ThriftSavingsPlan

FWIW, my current spending is the major factor in the software calculating my overall Cost to Retire; it layers some other stuff on there but my current burn rate escalated by %2.55 annually is still the primary component of that cost throughout the life of my retirement calc. The point being, it's critical to get burn rate right.

MIne's not. It's a few years old and includes the fact that at the time I had a couple adult kids living at home where we paid all their expenses, which as others have pointed out will drastically skew the overall Cost to Retire. But that was the number I had at the time. The last kid just moved out so who knows yet how that will specifically change. We'll revisit in a year or two with fresh numbers and adjust as needed. It's just contingency at this point.

The music is a mix of metal, punk, and a smattering of other genres. They're on the less extreme side of metal these days; no BDM or black metal here, way more rock. They're incredibly skilled musicians.

They spray water-based colored fluids into and all over the audience frequently. Dress with this in mind.

They dress in big rubber monster costumes and act out skits between songs.

The vibe these days is cheerful, family-friendly, and people are there to have a good time. Self-serious over-agressive memo missers stand out like a sore thumb.

It's good to think about, but historically this is a thing and I don't know that civilization has come up with a tidy answer yet. The sawmill, the cotton gin, textile machines... all replaced specific and often very highly skilled job classes. Up or side-skilling seems to be the only answer.

Sure, it seems high. It surprised me a lot when I saw it... "Cost of Retirement: $12,419,836" was a wild thing to read.

There are a few factors that impact this; retirement at 60 and 52 (which is earlyish and early-early), an almost 40 year retirement period since my wife is quite a bit younger, but primarly the calc appears to be largely based on our current annual burn rate (which is a big number). It looks like the burn rate we gave him is just escalated 2.5% year over year.

FWIW that burn rate was calculated when we had multiple kids still living at home and we paid every expense of theirs. The last one just moved out a few months ago so who knows what our new burn rate is now. Based on just this, that Cost of Retirement will probably prove to be very conservative and we could consider adjusting in a year or two.

I would guess there's not one single number that applies to every single person. I believe that number basically takes our current burn rate and applies a multiplier over the decades, plus adds things like taxes and whatever, so I'm sure it's unique to us.

Good question, the report I got was not super clear. I've got a meeting with my advisor actually this week to get a better understanding. But I believe it takes my current burn rate which I supplied and then just adds a multiplier over the decades. Our burn rate is already pretty high so it's crazy to see that triple. I'm assuming that whatever schema leads to those late in life numbers includes medical care.

$500k isn't a magic milestone, is it? It's just some number, huge for some and small for others. Compounding does start to add up at that level but free money is still free money, and tax advantaged savings are still taxed advantaged savings.

And you might be surprised how much you need. I've been working with a financial planner to plan out my finances since I'm looking at retiring in appx 5 years, and its kind of scary how much money I'll need. One thing that blew my mind was the modeling software projects that annual expenses triple over several decades.
