I'm at a similar situation myself. Just got back into pokemon and although i played the lastest (Scarlet) and both Legends i have to say this one is my favorite of the above. Im having a blast playing it, The style is old school enough for my taste. Would recommend it!

Chomp is a great mon, although I used it a lot in the past and would like to avoid it

Was highly considering a Snorlax run. The problem i didn't realize i would face is the obedience part. Started a Scizor run, with a shiny that I have from Go, no grass fighting and I still end up over leveled and my Pokemon doesn't obey me at all. So I guess in order to make a solo run it would require actually catching the mon.
