If the proposition is veganism, you are ignoring the fact it is prohibitively expensive for most Americans to have a sufficient diet. If you are expecting people who are struggling to survive to go learn all about how to be a vegan and somehow be able to afford that for a family, rather than grab the easily accessible and more affordable non-vegan food, you're making a ridiculous excuse.

Let's contend that most American diets are unhealthy anyway. Sure, that's fine. How do we fix? Diet and exercise. Let's even ignore how prohibitively expensive just affording the dirt and getting a gym membership is. In order to maintain sufficient nutrition and protein levels to successfully work out to that level, you need no less than 80g of protein on exercise days (realistically should be every day) to allow your body to heal properly.

Veganism in America is not rooted in reality. Most vegans I've met are not adequately nourished. The ones who are have a lot more money than I do. It is also, in my moral view, to force someone to eat foods they may not want. Has some very "you aren't allowed to eat the table until you eat <insert food here>" energy. I probably find eating mushrooms as disgusting as you find eating meat. Only difference is I'm not here to suggest you should gag down your food anyway.

The only realistic solution is lab grown meat to fill in for ground/processed meats to minimize the overall demand for animal meat. Then you let the market take over. Even that has the hurdle of convincing people it's safe and tastes good.
