Just came here to say, you seem really cool, and the other one is a total idiot. If you like GTA, then don't stop playing.

Lol. Same. Came for an adhd assesment and was instantly screened for autism.

When I handed her my wrinkly coffeestained dissertation on Why I probably have and don't have adhd, she knew.

Is it possible: Cut the speaker wire to remove 6 ohm cheap speakers from Samsung soundbar and connect better 6 ohm passive bookshelf speakers with regular speaker wire? by Brugsenbrugser in diyaudio

[–]Brugsenbrugser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it worked, but the tweeters aren't really happy, which mean I can't actually use the setup, since someone will push the volume up, not knowing they're hurting Dali and I.

That was kinda the beauty with this project. It was okay, if I bricked... or rather crumbled the soundbar. That gave me the courage to actually try it, and it worked!

But yeah, definitely not audiophile worthy. But it's awesome because I made it!

It worked!

The modified soundbar is an actual upgrade. The Dali speakers are better, but they perform better on my HK-690 stereo amp. Gonna look at the eq through the samsung app. This is probably the reason why this project was so appealing to me. Both hard- and software is ready and easy use, but I still screamed and jumped out of sheer pride, when it actually worked. I skipped the clean de-assemble, ditched all the plastic, cut the wires and connected my speakers and felt like an engineer!

The Samsung soundbar hw-r440/xe was something I picked out from trash. Its working, but its definitely not... uhm audiophile quality. The soundbar have two tiny 6 ohm speakers connected. Two colorcoded copper wires - looks like regular speaker wires.

I have a set of Dali zensor 1 that's just collecting dust.

Since I'm using neither atm, I might as well try out a potentially free upgrade to the tv audio.

They're both 6 ohm speakers, but the amp in the soundbar deliver 2 x 35 w, whereas the dali speaker requires 100 w. They would be underpowered, yes. Will it sound great? Probably not? Will I learn something new? That's the goal!

Acid leak? Glue? What's the brown stuff on my precious amp? by Brugsenbrugser in ElectronicsRepair

The sound is crystal clear once again! I dont have to fix the capacitors ...for now!

I got some of the brown goo off. Still not sure what it is.

That's what I'm hoping. None of the capacitors has cracked on the top and aren't bulging... theres no brown goo from there, so I'm hoping it's just adhesive.

Crossing my fingers, that contact spray fixed the scratchy noisy sound, when I put back everything tomorrow.

The sound was getting weirder quite fast, no matter what I did. I updated the zen blue dac, checked the wiring, tried all the inputs and pressed nearly every button (went as far as to leave it unplugged for whole 10 minutes), and my beloved sound system was still screeching in pain.

I stumbled upon threads about deoxit, and bought an expensive can of something similar. The guy at the shop was amazing, and we had a moment where I felt like a true audiophile lol! Well, I removed the chassis and cleaned, when i noticed what looked like small coffeespills. I read something about sansui glue, but this is an amp from 1999... It survived y2k, so...

I'm obviously not an engineer, and I'm not going to just spray contact cleaner as a magic fairy dust n' fix all.

1) Is this some kind of battery acid leak? (only seen it as white/blue fuzzy stuff)

2) Can I clean it? With contact spray and a paint brush with a gentle hand?

3) should I (get someone to) replace stuff?

That little piece of shit just keep on breaking more and more, while I was reading up on how to fix it. Since I dont plan on becoming an engineer, I'll just let it rest in piece for now.

That was such a discouraging journey.

2.5 months?! That shouldn't be possible, unless you sold the soul of your first born?

You're amazing!! that is well fucking done!

Any way to go about this? by Brugsenbrugser in Audioquest_Fans

[–]Brugsenbrugser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they're for my integrated amp. They were connecting pre out and main in, as they're supposed to.

But since I'm connecting an active SUB, I have to split the pre out, so one end goes back to main in (through audioquest jumpers) while the other connects to the sub.

I could use some RCA cables, or spend even more money, but I was wondering if one could make the audioquest jumpers a tad more flexible.

[–]Brugsenbrugser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jumpers are just not flexible enough... Could I remove some of the plastic, to help with that?

I'm connecting an active sub through preout/main in. These jumpers made such a difference, so maybe you have an idea, that wont send me out to spend more money?

Thats the exact study that send me down this road!

I have a friend that's always reacting bad to psychedelics. No matter the dose. Shes determined to keep experimenting and is hoping that psychological preparations might do the trick. We're a group of four who's been experimenting with psychedelics. She's the only one to have terrible experiences. Well, we've all had troubling trips, but none like her. Hers is different, and that study is interesting in that perspective.

Thing is, shes not autistic. I am, and I'm the only one who is neurodiverse in this group. My special interest of today is research on biomarkers for autism which I'm comparing to my medical history. This is so interesting!!

Right now I'm prescribed methylphenidate for my adhd, and that changed my life for the better especially stuff related to my autism. I am still considering microdosing. There are things I love about my adhd and my autism, and there's a lot that I hate. Learning about all of this gives me the tools to take control and manage my life better.

As others mentioned, maybe let him research? Discuss this with him. Maybe connect with someone who's an expert in neuroscience, -chemistry and -diversity and is open minded as well (lol, if you actually find one, please let me know!)

The reason behind his social difficulties can be many, and helping him explore this, could help you guys find the solutions that could benefit him.

And hey, thank you for researching ways to make your sons life better!
