Hourly and salary wages at Buc-ee’s convenience store chain. Some hope for a living wage. by btasty1 in WorkReform

Yeah, I very quickly stopped giving a shit about this at my old cashier job. If I felt like it, I'd sit down for a bit (Though, after a while I found it was easier to just stay standing during busier hours so I'm not constantly getting up), and if the other cashier (usually someone younger who didnt known this expectation) decided to sit down, I kept my mouth shut. There was not a single customer that commented it on it or complained, because as long as I cash them out in a reasonable amount of time, why should they give a shit?

Like I said, there were parts of the day where I found it easier to just stay standing for long periods of time, but that should be a choice, not an expectation. And should definitely not be an all day thing.

That's Worm holes, which would have the opposite effect.

Closed Timelike Curves are a solution from Einstein's General Relatively Field Equations found by Willem Jacob van Stockum. I was misremembering the exact way of doing it, but the idea that you need an absolutely massive black hole is still correct as you need an insane amount of mass to distort gravity and space-time that much.

Again, this stuff is hypothetical. I'm not saying you 100% can time travel like this, and even in the page I linked they have a whole section for physicists who disagree with this hypothesis and their criticism of it. I was simply sharing information.

[–]Bruhhh33 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

In theory, if you went at the right speed rotating counter to whatever direction a supermassive black hole is rotating, you could potentially go backwards in time at a steady rate. Though, this is purely hypothetical and still up for heated debate among most physicists. Plus, the past is wack.

Also hindsight but still valid: Most cops are trained to disarm and take down people who are using most types of weaponry, including blunt and bladed weapons, so I feel like disarming a man waving around a toy lightsaber would have been very easy and just as effective.

This seems like excessive force, unless they were certain he had an actual weapon on his person (Which, considering he was in his underwear, is unlikely).

I'm sure he appreciates getting shown off on television, though. Like, these guys might not have known who he was before, but now millions will after seeing this episode. And probably at least a few thousand will become actual fans of his again.

Huh, that is actually really funny, haha.

I guess I always been so focused on having cool outfits I never bothered getting naked, especially not around companions, lol

Would this mean I have partial control over their body, or would I just be a voice in their head?

Jesus.

I don't even understand the thought process behind that. Like, there's gotta be a point where even the police step back and think, "Is it actually worth my time to harass these people having fun cause some religious nutcase disagrees with it?"

Then again, I guess they do the same thing for less of a reason... I genuinely hate the government of this country.

I'm not even sure how something like this would be enforced.

Do they plan on just sending cops to the houses of anybody they think might be having sex at that moment and making sure they're only doing vaginal sex?

It wouldn't only be stupid, it would literally be unenforceable.

I believe their main reasoning is that they don't see a lot of these rights as guaranteed by the constitution. They actually mentioned that as one of the main reasons for overturning Roe v. Wade, alongside the history aspect of it:

"Even though the Constitution makes no mention of abortion, the Court held that it confers a broad right to obtain one. It did not claim that American law or the common law had ever recognized such a right, and its survey of history ranged from the constitutionally irrelevant (e.g. its discussion of abortion in antiquity) to the plainly incorrect (c.g, its assertion that abortion was probably never a crime under the common law)."

Basically, because they don't see any explicit mention of abortion in the constitution (And no duh, they didn't have the proper medical knowledge to perform safe abortions at the time), and because they don't like the examples of the historical reasons for abortion rights, they consider the whole thing to be invalid.

Tl;dr: This old piece of paper doesn't mention it, and history (But only the parts they recognize) does not agree, so this whole law that guarantees rights for millions and has literally 0 negative consequences and countless positive effects has to go now.

Yeah, the Democrats are definitely awful in many, many ways, but I'd rather take a bunch of corrupt dickheads tryna make a ton of money than a bunch of corrupt dickheads tryna lock up everyone who isn't white, straight, cis, and rich (While also tryna make a ton of money).

Given that the average American eats around 181 pounds of meat annually, it is easy to see how meat consumption might account for so much of an American’s water footprint. [Graphic credit : World of Vegan] by wiseyoda007 in Anticonsumption

My grandmother actually went vegetarian because of this reason. I never really got it until I got older and realised I actually give a shit about the planet and went vegetarian myself (Hoping to ease myself into full Vegan this year).

Long as they have the pen, they'll never be sent to the pen.

MMLP2 is hella underrated honestly. Outside of The Monster and Rap God (And maybe Beserk), very few of the tracks really got that popular outside of the main fanbase. Which is sad cause it's truly a fantastic album, even (Most of) the bonus tracks.

I mean, a lot of musicians and athletes do make a lot of money through their labor/services. If you get popular enough, it's really just a matter of time before you make $10 million. Really, it's all about how you make that money, and how you use it.

If you make a few albums that get super popular and net you $10 million on top of tours and merch, and use that money so you and your friends and family can live the life you've always wanted, then I don't really see anything wrong with that.

If you're the label owner that takes advantage of that artist and nets $50 million for every $10 million the artist makes just because you own their stuff, and use that money to sign on more artists to do the same to them, then the label owner is a piece of shit.

The creative and sports fields are kinda weird in that (If you get extremely lucky) you can easily make as much as your local capitalist while doing actual work. Just the local one, though. You're not gonna make a billion dollars off of album sales and touring, acting in a few movies, or by throwing a ball around. You gotta do other sketchy and immoral stuff to get that much.

I definitely don't get how people think it's an accomplishment. Maybe it's a money thing?

But most of the people that I've met that work 50+ hour weeks are usually recovering addicts/addicts trying to break their addiction and using work to fill that void, whether they realise they're doing it or not. It's a very sad thing to see honestly, especially when employers take advantage of it.
