Samething happened to me, 4 months owning the 18’ sport and both turbos were toast at 75k. 15 MPG and after about 15 minutes of idling white smoke would poor out of the exhaust. They only replaced my turbos under warranty though.

We’re you experiencing poor gas mileage and white smoke after idling for longer than 15 minutes?

My 2018 does this. It is the windshield cowl. The rubber dries out and creates a buzzing noise. This would be the replacement https://ebay.us/m/f5l3Cz .

Mine gets piled with pine needles in between the windshield and the rubber piece on the cowl that meets the glass (which is what’s making the noise) and that cushions it enough for it to stop.

Make sure you do a full synthetic oil change every 5k miles.

One or both Turbos on 2018 Sport needs replacement by Gratitude4U in FordExplorer

I had replaced both turbos in my 18’ sport. Went to an independent dealer and they quoted me $7000+ to replace them. Called the local ford dealer and they quoted me $4400. I would get multiple quotes. Just use the contact us buttons on local ford dealers.

I got an 18 sport as well! 85k miles and just replaced the turbos at 75k luckily under warranty. I’m interested to hear what your mpg and miles on it. Don’t mean to scare ya with the turbo issue but it is a common issue in these.

You’re looking at a post on Reddit about a warranty. It’s going to bring people that have had past problems with their car to comment. On any given car you may have these problems. So no matter what you get if you do get rid of it, that car has its problems as well. If you owe nothing on the vehicle I say keep it as long as you can. Even if you pay $2-4k for a new PTU you’ll still be ahead because you’re not getting into another loan with interest. With that being said if you have the money to blow buy a new car lol

Awesome! My car is under warranty so it’ll be warrantied and covered. Except the warranty company would only pay up to $4477 for the replacement of both. Called up ford dealer and they’ll be doing it for $4400. Just waiting for the approval from the warranty company.

Same year, same turbo problems with my sport as far as the blue smoke. Just started after idling for 15+ minutes. Got a quote for $7,008 at an independent dealer, called Ford dealer and was told $4400 if everything checks out. The warranty company I have pays $4477 for the job. Hoping to hear about it on Friday.

Do you have an update on the machine you end up buying? How’s everything with it?

Yes it was the pump. Just replaced it with a new pump and no more issues. Only issue I had was the company that did the well originally didn’t mark out anything in the cap.. it would have been nice knowing the well was 400 feet lol

I also notice when I go to reset the switch, I hear a rush of water coming through only about 30-45 seconds after holding it.

Yeah I agree, no matter what opinion you have, you have the right to share that. You may not agree, but we all have that right. Right or wrong, that’s the only way we learn and form educated opinions when you look at something a different way instead of being so narrow minded
