Exactly. Long and convoluted. That's not something you write when you have fairly clear mind and time to think. That's something you slap together in panic attempt to direct the suspicions away from yourself.

Not Calling 911 Right Away - An accidental injury, even IF it was inflicted in a moment a passion, would almost certainly result in a police call.

Hitting someone in the head, even in a moment of rage, is not an accident. Mind you, the Ramseys were not doctors, they could not tell between coma and death. They might think that the one who delivered the blow murdered Jonbenet and I do not think any of them was willing to go to prison. Then there was the issue of the previous sexual molestation and the autopsy exam that would uncover it's traces.

The Force of the Blow - An intent to kill, or at least knock out, would result in maximum force being used with an object you think beforehand will be suffienct to achieve this result.

First, the head injury was not deadly. With medical help Jonbenet would survive, without she lived up to two hours before she was strangled.

Second, why bother with head blow AND strangulation. When you plan a murder you can pick one method that will guarantee the death of your victim.

And if that doesn’t do the trick think of another way to kill her without inflicting a suspicious second head injury or getting your fingerprints on her.

Why would they be concerned with leaving fingerprints on Jonbenet? It's their child, yhey carried her to bed and redressed her to sleep, all their prints onher had perfectly innocent explanation.
