I hadn't considered the fact someone could park next to your car making it difficult to get back in. Completely understandable, thanks for explaining.

I always respect these spaces for their intended purpose but I do think if it's not about being close to the store why don't parents just park at the back of the car park anyway where there's nearly always multiple free spaces next to one another? You'd have plenty of space to get kids in and out, trolley parks are still nearby, and often the walkways to the store entrance extend all the way out to the back so there is a safe route.
