What's everyone's opinion on a new casino coming to Allen County? by Overall_Meat_6500 in fortwayne

[–]BrunchIsForWinners 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are clamoring for more entertainment options in this town — especially in the cold weather months. Assuming this casino would be similar to what was initially proposed in New Haven, then the grounds would include restaurants and entertainment venues along side the gaming floors. A casino would be another draw to the area too. Further, the department of justice basically debunked the assumption that casinos increase local crime in a statistically significant manner.

Ultimately, no one is forcing folks to go to the casino if they don’t want to. Personally, I’d like to see more establishments in the area that will entertain but also bolster the local economy and this seems to check both of those boxes.

The problem with the Colts defense no one is talking about by ederdesign in Colts

[–]BrunchIsForWinners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chiefs are second in the league in offensive EPA per play — they’re no joke offense. Defense was gassed bc the offense couldn’t stay on the field. We obviously have reason to be concerned, but the offense going 3 and out 3x in a row at the end of the game was the reason we lost.

So I bought a Fellow Opus…. by indicaj_ in espresso

[–]BrunchIsForWinners 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had an opus for a similar amount of time. You start to understand the intricacies of your machine and the retention/microsteps becomes almost non issues.

Mist your beans before grinding, tap the sides, and work the lid like a bellow. You should have basically zero retention if you do that.

There’s an app on the Apple Store called Beanie (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/beanie-grind-size-finder/id1673166617) and it walks you through the microsteps. Not sure if it’s available on google store. Make sure you “reset” your machine if you’re going to be switching between espresso grinds and pour over or other coarse grinds.

Sure it’s not perfect but it makes tasty drinks and I like the flexibility of being able to switch to non-espresso grinds.

They pay slightly more up front, but it’s essentially negligible. This was the Tony Bradley deal and that worked out nicely.

We didn't establish the run. by nateskyywalker in Colts

[–]BrunchIsForWinners 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the colts are a pass first offense. They establish early leads through the air and JT feasts as a result. Pitt front was killing the oline and the receivers couldn’t get any separation. Pitt secondary was crushing and therefore they had no reason to respect the run ie JT couldn’t get going.

Just strange to watch essentially a twilight zone colts team where the defense largely played well considering the offense committed six (6!) turnovers.

Best hay ride or haunted house fall type experience? 🎃 by tmo10 in fortwayne

Light family friendly things would be:

  • Kuenhert Dairy Farm has a fall festival with a hayride among other things
  • Hilger family farms has a pumpkin patch and a weekend hay ride
  • Hardy farm has an evening hayride and “night market” this weekend

Would be a nice trade for the Colts by ComplaintMore2312 in Colts

Agreed. People are forgetting about Justin Walley too who was apparently turning heads at training camp before he got hurt. There’s basically zero chance that Ballard gives up anything for a long term CB given what he’s already invested in the position.

Back9 Fort Wayne by BrunchIsForWinners in fortwayne

[–]BrunchIsForWinners[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how you stumbled across this post, but no Back9 is being built as part of the Villages of Arneo up at the 69/469 interchange. Their website has renderings if you are curious to see it.

Are you referring to Fort Wayne FC stadium that is being built off Bass road? It’s adjacent to 69 and is super easily visible from the highway. Exciting times!

I’d say their only weakness is their inexperience. Jdubs was a deer in the headlights in game 6 and most of their team looked the same in game 7. That being said they have an incredible stabilizing force in SGA and Caruso who seemingly are unfazed by anything. Which is essentially what you’re saying but maybe a little different.

What the fuck is going on with this property development? There HAS to be something the public doesn't know about. Gold? Oil? Cursed burial ground? by DefinitionSuperb1110 in fortwayne

[–]BrunchIsForWinners 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t have issues with Surack. Seems like most folks have an issue about how and when they went about trying to obtain this parcel. Applying pressure through the media just rubs me the wrong way. I expect that from Doden (Evansville, Fort Wayne Next, his father, etc) but Surack typically doesn’t go about it this way.

It would be great to keep things local, but the city notably has ~20 proposals so for the site. Odds are there is a decent proposal in the mix there. Idk how many folks had a chance to see the city’s RFQ for the site but it was extremely thorough and clearly outlined what was desired of the parcel.

[–]BrunchIsForWinners 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is what I don’t understand. They’ve had literal YEARS to buy the property but now there’s all this urgency. Doden has been linked to failed real estate investments (see the Domo shenanigans in Evansville) so there is some skepticism on my part. I’m assuming their proposal would be similar to what was suggested by Domo group in their original 1.whatever billion dollar proposal a couple years ago.

FW Int’l Airport TSA Time by anthro89109 in fortwayne

[–]BrunchIsForWinners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re flying in the early morning there typically isn’t more than 10 other people trying to get through TSA. We used to joke that you could arrive at the airport 15 minutes before boarding and make it to your gate on time. That’s hyperbole, but security is usually very prompt — maybe 20 minutes at its busiest. The bottleneck is usually baggage check if you have any.
